Metro macks on the straight hook *photos added*
hey everyone, notcied how good the weather was going to be on sunday so me and the boys stated planning where to go, orignally it was going to be our secret mack and baldy spot south of jurien but then with reports of terrible vis on saturday we gave that spot a miss. then it was decided for west end. sunday morning at 5:45 i am at joe's houe and he says we are taking out his bigger boat and hitting a differnt spot more towards garden island. target being only macks. so of we go to start our 100km round trip
We get to the spot only to see 16 lino boats out there so we found a nice little secluded lump and jumped in. vis was good 25m+ and we were in about 24m water. me and nick set of both with brand new fins (him with dive-R mediums, and me with pentetrator mediums) and start looking for berely. we dive down and find a nice school of buffies in about 18m and peg one each. onto the berely line they go and we begin berelying. the other 4 divers are hanging of the mermaid line waiting for the berely to hit them. after about 3 mintues of berelying we head down the line. wouldnt u know it, joe has a 12kg mack on his spear and with out noticing, adam had a 23.5kg mack on the boat already! so we start diving. and hard. but to no avail didnt see a single other mack. joe saw some small dhuies in the 27m mark and i saw some little yellow tail kings and and normal reef fish. so after a few hours we change spots. this time to a very deep water pinnicle
38m on the sides 24m on top so for 4/6 of us not much we could do without being on the pinnicle. joe some how still manages to find a shelf but with nothing but small dhuies on it. so we change again. this time we anchor in about 26m of water. we set the mermaid line out and i start berelying. one of the guys calls out they saw a tuna so we head towards them. i notice joe at the end of the mermaid line so i swim to him. wouldnt u know it theres a 18kg mack hanging of his gun again!. so we start diving hard again and berelying lots with two new buff bream joe had shot on the pinnicle.
After about an hour and ill I had seen was a 7-8 bronzie, a 3-4 bronzie, a wobby on the bottom in 30 and then some little baldys and buff bream etc i head back to the boat to meet up with adam and steve who had also given up already. we look out for joe and hes of to the side. and then nick and michael come back onto the boat aswell. joe finnaly decided to joing us, with another 10kg mack! so end result was 4 macks, a queenie, a big skippy, and 8 crays. great day toped of with the big bronzie that was very tame and always fun to see when they are that calm.
back to the ramp by 3 just before the wind picked up and home by 6 with some spanish mack in the oven :D
Pictures of adams 24kg mack ill put up soon once i get it. :)

2 licences = 12 crays per boat
last time i checked kane. he did say there was at least 3 people on board, and divers more often than not (let alone spearos) ususlly have their cray license....
good read fishing fanatic! good to hear the mackies are still about in numbers. its making me jealous as I still cant dive due to a knee op 6 weeks ago.
be sure to chuck up some photos!

Given to you by another boat?
Given to you by another boat? Sounds massively dodgy.

no way i would hang out them.
no way i would hang out them. way tyo much dodgey stuff for me. nah we were all diving and then i saw a boat come straight for ours, i swam over to them and they said they had caught over their bag limit and have 8 crays if we wanted them. they were all on scuba so i am guessing they just went of in their own ways and when they all got back to the boat they noticed they all had caught crays and were over, we where the closest boat to them and they asked us, we were ment to head in shallow later in the day to get our 12 crays and so with these 8 they we didnt need too. all the crays they gave us were easily sized (measursed) and we clipped them ourselfs
