If you listen carefully to the first presentation at 2 mimutes 40 seconds you'll hear the statement "if the fish are pulled up from more than 20 or 30 metres and released, most of them are going to die anyway"
This continuing misrepresentation of survival data held by Fisheries Research has been represented in very strong terms to the Department of Fisheries.

Thanks Terry - ???!!
Thanks very much for posting that Terry. I could say a lot about NM's press conference (the first link) that's already been said and I'll post my response to the Minister (CC'ed to others) on a seperate thread (will be interested in your comments).
What I will say is - how did they come up with the 'magical' figure of $150.00 to acheive the 50% reduction, especially when they:
a) Don't want to stop people fishing.
and
b) Targetting these fish require pretty decent sized boats, so 'they' are not exactly poor. (or words to that effect anyway).
Soon to be de "dreamweaver" ed!
