Moray eel

Hey guys, was out last Thursday and we got a moray eel about a metre long! Do more people come across these and do people take them home to eat? My mates mum cooks them up but I didn't want the sly looking thing on the boat!

The freshwater eels are awesome smoked ( but not everyones taste I must say, cuz of the oil as mentioned before). And for that reason I tried to smoke a moray eel  the other day. I must say they are ok smoked but nowhere as good as freshwater eels. I still would keep a decend size one!

Cheers

I have caught a few. Usually at night when bottom fishing. I know they are quite aggressive and not really a good eat. I just cut the line of as close to the hook as possible and let them free.

I caught one a few weeks ago , apparently they have bad vision ie cant see more than about 400mm away but they sure are sus things.

Hate the way they tie themselfs up in a knot and twist till they get off the hook(the one I caught did). Like an occy , still moving with its head chopped haha.

Have heard they taste ok , old mate with me wanted it.

get the blood pumping when on the loose on the deck!

Yeah we've caught a few bottom bashing at night and are a real pain to let go when they knot themselves up. They're also pretty painful when they bite too just ask my mate one bit him through the webbing between his thumb and finger the language that came out of his mouth said it all
