my 80 hp 4 stoke yamy

on a glassed of day I can get 6500 rpm out of my yamy I don't think I should be able to pull those rpm am I under or over propped , I also suffer from cavitation if I nail it from zero to flat out

My 70 pulls 5900 (5800-6300)

My 70 pulls 5900 (5800-6300) on 70 so spot on. 6500 on 80 is under propped either change prop or dont pull those revs - wouldn't be good for the motor.

My 100 Yamaha used to run a 17 pitch at 6200 (std yamaha ali)about 58 kph,  then went to a 19 which brought the rpm down to about 5800 and 62 kph (std yamaha ali) then broke that to went for a aftermarket ali prop in a mercury style lobed blade in a 19 as well and now get max rpm of 5500 and 64 kph also seems to have better take off and control than the yamaha props. I didn't go to a stainless steel prop as cost and would rather sacrifice prop than gearbox but people do have different opinions between ali vs ss.
