is my roller tip stuffed?

hey guys, never used roller tipped rods before but I've decided to go a stroker with roller tip for some jetty shark work.

the rod in question is a silstar crustal blue stroker, and i strapped my 50w on with 24kg line, and proceeded to tie the line to the pole and harness up to correctly adjust the harness for the upcoming season,

when i was putting drag from the reel, i notices a very unsmooth noise of line going over my roller tip, after a few times the line was way scuffed and eventually busted off. When i inspected the roller, it did seem to roll fine.

so my question is, is the rubbing of the line happening because the angle of the line coming out from the rod is too verticle? if this was to happen in a normal fishing environment where the line would go out at a more horizontal angle, would this be happening?

is this a common occurence when loading up rods with roller tips?

any healp greatly appreciated thanks

Go a ring tip

Most standard rods that have roller tips dont spin that well ie not too freely even after lubricating. We recommend taking the roller tip off and putting on a ring tip which wont wear your line and will elimintae maintenance involved with a roller tip.

rollers are just hassles,

rollers are just hassles, only good for deep sea fishing where your fishing vertically. Much better off with a ring tip for any horizontal type fishing you will be doing, which is any Land Based action.

Rollers

Check that your line cannot jump out of the roller and get jammed between the frame and the roller itself. Going by your description I would guess this as being the problem.

You can check this easily and replace the roller with a better quality one or as suggested hereabout replace it with a ring tip which be be a cheaper option as well.

Good luck with the shark fishing and hope you keep eating your spinach....lol
