New years metro tiger shark

Fished a popular metro beach last night..

Hooked up three times, first time rubbed me off on my leader, second bit straight though my wire trace pretty quickly.. third time lucky hooked up to something big, after 2.5-3 hours of fight and it taking me for a walk up and down the beach several times it appeared in the waves. BIG shark was the call so i ran down to tail it and it bit me off !! took 2 of us to pull it up the beach clear of the water inch by inch. Didnt like its chances of survival after such a long fight but it swam off quite stongly once i got it past the waves.

What a night..

Swimming with sharks is fun, only had 2 dives without being aproved by sharks in the last month. Great rush swimming with a 3m shark and fighting him off your fish haha. That's a monster tiger to would of gone well that's for sure

Pilbara Brad did an article

Tue, 2013-01-01 23:37

Pilbara Brad did an article in the Wangler recemtly discussing something similar.I know of an angler that has picked up a Red Emporer and other northern emporers out of Gero atm.

On my recent trip to Lucies Beach at the back of S-Bend was amazed to see  how many sharks were finning so close to shore.

Thanks for all replies guys,

Thanks for all replies guys, definately a big increase in tiger sharks around at the moment, why? i dont know but im not complaining! Though there were quite a few groups of people swimming at this spot just before dark, if only they knew !

Caught on a 13ft rod - that was painful..

Dont know about eating qualitys , ive heard they can be good but i couldn't bring myself to kill such an animal.. much more satisfying to see it swim off to fight another day :)

Cheers - Mick

That one was over the max

Wed, 2013-01-02 09:59

That one was over the max size limit for whaler sharks which included tigers as well so its protected. Very nice shark and good to see more people starting to catch and release the big ones for sport.

I honestly believe the same

Wed, 2013-01-02 11:35

I honestly believe the same theory Spanish, there is no doubt in my mind that's why we have an extreme amount of them lurking around metro beaches atm! might have to try for another this week, great fun!

Aaron, put the hours in and

Mon, 2013-01-07 10:15

Aaron, put the hours in and you will definately be rewarded sooner or later..

We fish almost every weekend (not always off the beach) into the wee hours of the morning, usually catching NOTHING....

Sooner or later everything will come together for an awsome night, and that night will always be a night to remember.. makes all those fishless nights so worth while :)

Thanks guys, i also like the pic with its mouth open, if you zoom in a little you can see the teeth theyre pretty gnarly
