Night diving safer from shark attack than day diving? your thoughts?

Have to admit that ive always felt a bit safer scuba diving out there at night rather than diving at day. My thoughts being that at night your very brightly "lit up" with your torches and probably don't resemble "food" but at day my understanding is that divers and swimmers are mistaken for seals by great whites because they hunt and attack by sight. Have there been cases of scuba divers taken at night? all the cases ive seen have been at day or low-light conditions but not at night. Just a thought. Interested to hear what others think?

Diving at night

I have only ever done two
I have only ever done two night dives and the first one was ok...plenty of activity at night and really enjoyed it.
The second time was all good until something swam past me quite quickly and was big, never saw what it was but it was big enough to make me move quickly back and forth as it went past, Kind of like a pressure wave movement.
Scared the shit out of me and spent the rest of the dive nervous as shit and looking constantly into the darkness in all directions. Never went at night again.
"What you can't see won't hurt you" well it hurt my confidence for night dives

I reckon Bruce being
I reckon Bruce being inquisitive would be extremely keen to go for a visit , particularly if he sees the porch light on from afar .

Exactly...when you deep drop
Exactly...when you deep drop or night fish people often put on a glow stick/device of some kind to attract the predators in the darkness.
So lets jump in the water at night, dive down and make ourselves glow .....what possibly could go wrong

FFS as if sharks weren’t bad enough .. I suppose the odd rogue occy might do a alien and latch on to your head in the darkness as well

Well turn your torch off
And you will surely be safe from attack as the Sharks can't see you......we used to scallop dive Cockburn Sound around the D9 throughout winter with never a second thought and caught HUGE prawns as a by catch .....never saw any sharks yet we were well and truly in their zone .....

Thanks for adding some thoughts guys
Hey Krusty ive felt the pressure wave you described and been moved sideways at night as well, turned out it was a dolphin one time (came past again through the light beam) and a couple of other times it was a big seal (off woodmans point rocks) there, after swimming along side me he passed me and stuck his big face straight into my mask and i nearly shat myself. If yours was a big white, well..... your still here so maybe it didnt view you as food which is kind of the point im trying to make. Why would bright dazzling lights ring a whites dinner bell? yeh sure it may make him come in for a look but thats no different to if he saw you at day right? at day he might still come in for a look, see your shape and mistake you for a seal but at night is that less likely? i dont know. I havent had a good search on the internet yet but i ask again has there ever been any night divers taken by white pointers?
