You catch these by the dozens
You catch these by the dozens at long point boat ramps at the moment. They love squid and my wife's 5 year old neice caught 5 in her first ever hour of fishing there last night, they hook themselves. (she then announced to us and total strangers that she caught more fish than all of us! )
Everyone there says they are bad eating and just an annoyance like the abundance of blowies and trumpeter there, are they edible in any way? We just threw them back or used the odd one in the crab nets. Some were 20cm+.
PS. off topic- a few chopper tailor on mulies on dark for about 30 minutes and a guy landed a southern ray, boxy headed looking stingray

OK eating
I've eaten a few of these things - they're alright - if you don't mind messing around with little fish.
They're pretty easy to catch in a few metres of water (two at a time) - no size limit I can find but obviously the smaller ones go back.
Haven't tried them as bait though - might give it a bash.
