Died doing what he loved. Just shows how dangerous the sport can be even with all the safety equipment available. Have to feel for sean abbott can't imagine what him and his family are going through at the moment.

Just a tragedy for all concerned. Feel for the family foremost, but Sean Abbott must be suffering too.

Just heard it on the radio, feeling gutted hearing about it. Sad day for cricket and cricket supporters in general. Rest in peace Phil.

This is a horrible day for the cricket community and our thoughts are with his family, friends, team mates and all who knew him.

somewhat surprisingly
feeling gutted to - more so than expected. I guess being a sports tragic - and growing up always listening to the cricket during the summer months means that this has caused me to have the feelings I have. Such an immense talent - a little Aussie battler, that we have seen the last of now. RIP Phil and condolences to his family and friends. Very sad day indeed

Taken too young doing what he loved.

Yes let's spare a thought for Sean Abbott as well. He must be really struggling to cope with all of this as well.

RIP Phil
Absolutely gutted hearing of the news today. Hughes was one of my favourite young cricketers in Australia and he had a huge future to look forward to. My thoughts go out to his family and friends and also to Sean Abbott. I have to admit I shed a tear this afternoon watching the press conference at St Vincents. Big thumbs up to Michael Clarke for coming out to make a statement for Hughes' family

Reflecting back on the day
Reflecting back on the day David Hookes passed and how his door closed but he open the door of many others through his organ donation. We didn't hear that this time. I believe that would have eased a considerable amount of pain and shock as well as raise the awareness of organ donation.
Not wanting to cast aany dispersion on the decision not to. Just putting it out there.

I have reflected on what
I have reflected on what could be a fitting tribute during the first test? I thought if australia bowl first perhaps phillip's baggy green #408 could be placed at first slip or in the gully or wherever phillip would have fielded. just for the first session, and present it to clarke at the first drinks break to be returned to the family? I don't know if it's a good idea or not appropriate?

I would like to think that if the batsman hit it in the vicinity of his cap, they wouldn't take the runs.

RIP Phillip Hughes. Loved
RIP Phillip Hughes. Loved your unauthodox style. So sad to see that happen. Stopped the whole cricket world, I'm pretty sure every game in Australia is having a minute of silence before play and having a black arm band for respect. It's so sad and he had a HUGE career ahead of him
