Just got back from the beach
Just got back from the beach in Busso where I go to read the paper each day, was in the car park that is about 500m west of the jetty that sits up high overlooking the water and I saw a reasonably big school of maybe 300 fish about 200m out. Watched them through binoculars for about 15 minutes before they moved out a bit and up towards the jetty. So there will probably be some action on the jetty today.
cheers

My mate was out cheynes and got into a smaller school but a few schools stayed out of casting range... will still be salmon going through but
could be on one day than not the next so may have too wait it out... If u have a boat would be better too get ones out of casting range from
cheynes beach... But by the size of the sharks that have been haressing schools i wouldnt be chasing any in my yak without a shark shield :)
Wychinicup is good if u go just out of the mouth gets deep very quick though. Got bonito and that last year in my yak went fair way out but bit scary not knowing whats under u haha.. But would get salmon around the front... Hope that helps cheers...

Seeing as there are multiple
Seeing as there are multiple threads going I thought I would bump this one back up for fun.
Had a hectic morning Saturday over at Rocky point. landed 8/9 good salmon in a couple of hours and wandered off when the boat situation got a bit frightening - counted 36 inside 150 sq. m at one point all within 80m of the rocks.
The other fishos on the rock (in the AM) were superstars - 8 of us in total moving round the rock and sight casting to the schools as they came through (those with the polarised lenses doing the spotting). Was a really refreshing experience, no agro every one being courteous and only one tiny tangle (my bad as my braid sythed through someone's mono - apologies). However the situation with the boaties was pretty different - parking up 40m off shore (beach and rocks) blocking the landbased guys from casting into schools, not pretty but no massive agro.
Sunday was a little more difficult on the rocks with the swell and I took a good dunking on tow occasions (enough to make me decide to move to safer ground after landing a couple). Plenty going on down the beach with schools visible in the waves.
All on lures, I saw nothing come out on bait all weekend.
May head down for another run this weekend, or even before since the weather looks sublime.
Are there any more reports from the last day or so.

Rocky Point
Its at the south end of Bunker bay or off to your right.
Take a look at the middle reef as you walk down the beach, sometimes they school up there and people walk straight past them because they don't know what signs they are looking for.
When you reach the rocks at the south end of the beach give a few casts out around the big rock about 20? metres out and a bit to the right of it, the area there is what we called the hospital because later in the season most of the fish holed up there are injured in some way

Middle Reef
When I walked out to the rocks on Saturday morning, there was about a dozen salmon at the very front of the reef. I only seen them because their fins were out of the water. Weren't interested in any lures I flicked at them.
That was the same for everything I seen along the beach. The odd 3 or 4 swimming together in close just weren't hungry.
Different story once I was out on the rocks. Was impossible not to catch one.

Hey all.
What an awesome arvo. Beaut sun, light wind, and a beach to myself, with salmon in the water!
Caught this one pictured on a $100 shimano combo and 10lb line. Was using a popper and getting smashed by herring until this one took a liking! After a couple jumps and 5 or so minutes later, I managed to grab the leader and pull it up onto the sand with a wave. It went 720mm, is this about average size this year? Good fun on light gear! Cant wait to get some more.

Salmon update
Spent the last 3 days chasing salmon. Friday morning we tried contos. Managed to land over 10 fish with many lost at the rocks. Seen the biggest school of fish in 6 years of salmon hunting. This school would have been 15+ton. They were really on the move and didn't hang around but provided great entertainment with all 4 of us on to solid fish. Amazing site with salmon as far as you could see into the water. However liveys accounted for most of our hookups with no other big schools swimming past. Saturday we returned to contos with high hopes but to our shock no fish in numbers. Managed a couple on liveys but nothing like the day before. Decided to move on to Hamelins and were rewarded with some schools to chase and cast at. And finally today we decided to have a bit of a sleep in and went to eagle bay for a quick session before we left to come back to perth. Managed to get 2 more fish on liveys that were paddled out on canoe. All I can say to the multiple ....heads in boats that had to drive there boats within 100m of the beach is your all a bunch of c...s. We lost 2 rigs to props with one guy actually stopping and argueing with us "how could we possible cast that far". To you mate you are the biggest flogger of the lot. All in all great weekend with lots of fish caught. All fish were catch and release except for 3 caught on liveys where the hooks were absolutely swallowed. Although the cats will enjoy a feed. For those of you who enjoy a feed of herring there are millions of them about. Just a bit of pollard and they will be in droves. And for the squid lovers plenty to be had in the bay. Sorry for the essay but don't mind sharing a bit info on salmon. These are not secret spots just right place at right time and a bit of experience in fishing different tecniques. Good luck to those going over the Easter break. It's gonna be crazy down there with plenty of boats hugging the coastline testing the patience of the landbased fishos.

I dealt last weekend with
I dealt last weekend with some clowns in boats. Do they not realise that your in a boat to get where you can't from shore, obviously not so they come in close and hinder land based fishos chance at landing fish. Half of them drive through the school, spooking and splitting them up. It's definitely not all boaties, just a certain number with no idea.

Secret Harbour
Went to Secret harbour this morning but very rough and windy. Hard to cast near the breakers due to the water level been high.
Try my luck perhaps Monday and super early. Not one bit on lures or mullies. :(

Mullies
You got more chance with a Mullie because if an odd one or two salmon come pass than they can find your Mullie lures are best when there are schools of salmon. If you don't mind the drive I recommend Cheynes beach Albany they always seem to get salmon there I went Tuesday and Wednesday and we got 24 on mullies

Gotta disagree mcrosmar1...
Gotta disagree mcrosmar1... lures all the way for salmon. Lures or a live herring, but like i said in a previous post, all the options do work and are proven to work, its about ensuring you have a bait/lure in the water when the salmon are around! The more often you head down and cast a line, the better your chance.
Owen10 - Must of been shocking at SH today, the swell has been up big time the last two days making beach fishing pretty tricky. Swell is dropping tomorrow but is still up a bit. Maybe try Dawseville cut ocean end, there has been a few around. Iv dont well along the white hills - tims thicket beaches, but obviously thats off the cards last two days...

Epic fail
Thought I was being real clever, found what looked like a couple of awesome spots away from the tourists I front of the light house. A few k walk to get there, ill have it to my self. After the few k walk, rod in hand, realised that you can't see the big f#^k off cliff that was between me and my awesome spot on google earth, as satellites look strait down, SHIT! Went home and drank a whole lot of beer.

Balingup salmon
I'm in Balingup and have a window of opportunity tomorrow to sneak to the coast... The road connections are fairly average but it means the cape to cape region is all about 2 hrs away... So where should I head to... Eagle Bay Area, injidup ish, or Hamelin bay, or even Augusta? It'll be an assortment of lures. Easterlies am, sw from 2ish... Any advice ... Would rather avoid big swells... Cheers in advance..

Plenty of school of 5-10 fish around Dawseville cut last couple days. As above, live herring, and even drifting mulies is doing the trick. They are smashing lures on the souther beaches too. Pretty good fun and happy to see plenty of fish around.

My trip to bunker bay rocky
My trip to bunker bay rocky point was a fail. Bay itself was quiet no schools, a couple of groups having a ball with live herring baits producing big fish but I wasn't set up for that. Wonder if this big swell could be the last of hem I read that 1st winter storms can break them up. At least if metro may have a crack this weekend.

I was at bunkers/rocky pt Friday morning. I only saw fish taken at the point. One group was having a whale of a time out on that rock jutting out fishing back towards shore, and another from shore based rocks out in to the same hole although they had all their big fish before 7:30 as far as I could tell. Lots of dolphins. One killer was I bloody forgot my sunnies.
