Sounder shot hdi7 silt out??? D9

Went out a couple weeks ago to the D9 (first time) and come across this on my sounder... Went over it a couple of times and showed up every time! I was thinking sediment from the bottom? Dropped a line to check but caught nothing, moved 200m away & cleaned up with skippy... I'm still learning how to read a colour sounder so any input would be great. It's lowance hdi7 on manual mode... Colour line set to 68% & gain set to 75% give or take a couple of points... Any ideas?

Could it be the wreck itself?

Could it be the wreck itself? The yellow/red return means the surface is quite solid or hard. Weedy, soft bottom and smaller fish generally show up as a blue return.

I'm going to say its the wreck itself, I took some pics there a fortnight ago on a HDS10 + Structure scan, I'll have a go at uploading them later.

Bait

I would say bait. I have seen this too and it is usually yellowtail and bullseye schooling up. They can get extremely thick around the wreck.
The sounder shot is showing the highest bit of the wreck which I believe is where the crane was positioned. On a clear day you can see straight down the square hole in top of the platform. Here is a great picture of the D9 but I think it has broken up a bit more since the image was taken.

The shallow end of the wreck jumps up to 4 or 5m depending on the tide. In the picture above you can  see the large end that used to house the crane, this is the part that pops straight up from 10-11m  to 4-5m .

The highest part of the wreck ( Back ) points towards Cockburn Cement. The front points towards the causeway and its about 55m - 60m long.

I had the pleasure of marking it on a very calm clear day. The kids on board hung over the front to mark the back, then we drove up the length of it to mark the front. We even sat over top and dropped baits down to Leather jackets inside the wreck. I have fished it many times , and seen it alot, but ony have had one day like that in all these years.
