Thought you would be sick of
Thought you would be sick of sashimi by now.We did the deep drop for 10 greeneyes ,stopped for bait on the way out first drop three dhuies ,I can't get away from the bloody things. Had a few drops in the 80m s on the way in and bagged out on the demersals.Great day on the water. Did you go deep /deep, and if so did you find it slow or was it just me.

Paul, it was too good a day
Paul, it was too good a day to not go deep drop. Headed out early and fished our grey band spot, 3 drops, three nice grey band and a snapper, so considering how good it was and the fact we had 2/3 our bag limit by 8.30 am we headed out deep and followed the 400 m contour to try and crack a blue eye. Bloody boats everywhere out there, which made it tough trying to sound some of the more prospective looking contours, and we dropped on probably 10 small shows before we managed to find two new spots in the deep and bagged a nice hapuka and a bass groper. Blue eyes still elude us.
However, we did a fish trade on the way in with a boat who had all blue eye and wanted a grey band, so tonite we get to taste all 4 of the major deep drop species, should be interesting. We were thinking a bit of tuna sashimi would top it off nicely, but not to be.
