Stand alone chart plotter options

 Hey crew,

Sorry if this has been covered a lot, my lowrance plotter has failed me.. Hopefully I can put my micro sd into someone else's plotter and retain my waypoints?

Also, Iam now in the market for a new stand alone plotter... Don't really want to spend more than 1k, but might if I have to...

My last plotter was nothing flash, (lowrance elite 5) and I found it was good enough for me.

im interested in feedback from Simrad, Garmin, etc users.. Like I said, nothing flash, just want a decent map with contours, etc that is easy to use, mark spots.. Then accurately drive back over them.

The devastation lingers.

Thanks in advance for your response

Pretty sure the points are

Pretty sure the points are saved to the plotter! Presuming you are referring to the navionics sd card. Bummer...look at raymarine too. I got the navionics app on my phone as back up, has gold charts and plots/tracks, 17 bucks

 I like it mate,  any

I like it mate,  any posative response is good response, thanks. Do you run your HDS split screen? Or do you have a separate sounder? I have been loving having a stand alone plotter.. Makes things easier. If my SD card only holds the navionics maps, does this mean I can put my card in a US plotter and it will be good to go? Also do you know if it will be compatible with other brands... I guess I'm asking if lowrance have locked my map files to lowrance products only.

Sorry if this is confusing, thanks for your response

Wed, 2013-02-06 15:26

and a 585 as a sounder! if you buy a us gps lowrance it wont work! they have geofencing! if its a navionics card it should be compatable with any gps that runs navionics!

Good setup, I've decided on

Wed, 2013-02-06 18:28

Good setup, I've decided on the furuno but have no idea on the plotter. Do you run 2 transducers? Either side of the hull? I did like the functionality of lowrance

yeh mate i run the dual transducers 1kw on the furuno and 600w on the lowrance! the 1kw is through hull and the 600 is transom mount but its on the same side! they run fine together! no interference!

Would work good, but screen

Would work good, but screen visibility in the sun would suck and its not water proof

Is geofencing only an issue

Is geofencing only an issue if you download an updated version?
