Stuffed !! Anything BUT Chickens !

Most of you would have seen my other thread on a possible career.
Reasonable physical fitness is one of the requirements.
And I need money.
So, last night, I took the opportunity to be a 'Chicken Chaser' at Mount Barker Free Range Chickens.
You have to catch the chickens, pickem up, dump them in crate (6 per crate) then stack the creates on a pallet - 4 piles of crates per pallot, 5 crates per pile - or 20 crates per pallot.
Between THREE of us we did 55 pallets - thats 55 x 20 x6 = 6,600 f#$@(*! chickens!
I'M STUFFED!
I know, nothing to do with fishing, but if I die of exhaustion, I won't be doin any more fishing That's my excuse!
More chooky babes tonight!

In the bigger shedded
In the bigger shedded chickens up here they don't even bother cleaning out the sheds. If the chook chasers miss a few, its cheaper to let them get the strays on their own time and take em home for free than it is to have half a dozen guys chase a couple of stragglers!

Yeah same till
All about economy of movement etc - positioning the pallots - and three fat flappers per hand (when you get the knack)

I make somewhere between $130.00 - $180.00 for 5 hours work. Except last night, one of the trucks broke down, so we lost a couple of hours - started at 5 - didn't finish 'till 00:30 hours.
VERY messy

That's not too bad Colin
You have got to learn the bow legged chicken walk. Bowing your legs out gives you a wider stance to help trap the chickens and brings you closer to the ground - well that's the theory.

I'm not getting too excited!
About chasing Chooks around a paddock. They must go hard, should tackle one and appeal for holding the ball LOL.
So yourself is saying that you will turn out more of a square shape then ripped?

Not much chasing Darda
Calling the job 'Chicken Chassers' is misleading actually. You're never running after them as such as the pallot is dropped right next to the chickens, the white lights turned off and blue ones turned on (settles the chooks).
You're basically just bending down, grabbing them and stuffing the stoopid blighters into the cages.

So all you need to do is
Grab the Chickens and put them away into the cages? No-wonder its a tiring job, its all about bending the knees and arching the back.
Maybe you should try talking Chicken language like Mako Magic BOK BOK BOK.. BOK! Then they might understand whats going on and help you out!
Cheers lads,

Never mind Col, there is always Pork chops. I once had a job raking chook poo from under the floors on a chook farm - worst job ever but i managed to sneak out a couple of pocketfulls each night.

Maybe you can get in on this opportunity Colin
GE Energy's ecomagination(TM)-certified Jenbacher gas engines will use biogas created from chicken manure to generate needed power and heat at a large chicken farm north of the China's capital city of Beijing. The plant is the first of its type in China and could pave the way for similar applications in the future.
The Beijing Deqingyuan Chicken Farm Waste Utilization plant comes as the country seeks innovative ways to meet its energy and environmental requirements. Providing 14,600 MWh of electricity per year, the project is designed to help reduce sub-urban electricity shortages.

Better save some energy for tomorrow night!!!!!
Quit a job once and when asked what I was going to do! Told the boss I didn't give a #^(*^@ if I ripped heads off chickens as long as I didn't work here!!!!
My first job was at INGAMS and as the boss was showing me around. He told me about the chicks that didn't HANDLE the FEED!!! I think he was just alittle surprised when I grabbed one and RIPPED it's head off(It was chasing it's own tail so to speak)!!!!!!! When I explained why he thought it was great!!!!
Wouldn't let me send it to the old boss but!!!!!
