Trade insurance

 Hi all,

For all the tradesmen out there, I'm just wondering if you have tool insurance,

And if not, why?

Looking at getting tool insurance soon but not sure who to use.

With stealing a regular thing, looking after thousands of dollars worth of tools seems like a good idea to me!

Any info would be much appreciated,

Thanks James

If you area tradie, or someone that uses the tools for your work... I most certainly would have them insured!!

They are your bread and butter....  Plus, you can write the insurance off on tax..

sounds like you will be investing quite a bit of money ...so yeah you need to protect it, do a ring around and see what they can do for you ...and also what they won't do ..

Try AAMI, I had my public liability with SGIO for a couple of years then last year i got a quote from AAMI which also covered me for tools .They beat SGIO hands down  and SGIO would not even match it.It makes sense to ring around and see what is on offer.

read your policy

James make sure you understand your policy and that it covers all situations and areas , there are plenty of companys out there willing to take your money for a policy that will give you some protection but there will be areas where they wont cover you , i used a broker to do all of our insurances and he did his home work and i asked all of the questions to ensure i got what i paid for

Hit the nail on the head so to speak Just Dhu it. Use a broker. I do for all my business insurance. They will come out and ask you all about what you do and what they can cover you for.

yeah read all the fine

yeah read all the fine print.   Some policies won't cover the tools on the back of a ute or whilst on the actuall work site only when in transit locked away etc etc..

if you are using a tradie trailer make sure you gps it and alarm it this will also reduce your premium considerably.
