Trailer wiring Help

Now this is driving me bonkers. What I do is probably the opposite of wiring electrical things. Some wiring involved in my job but not this.

I have new led lights, with 2, 5 wire cables running into the 7 pin standard plug. Somehow one of the cables got pulled out one week after getting it back. Probably shonky from the start.

The colours are Red, Green, Yellow, Brown and White, so I have 10 wires running into a 7 pin plug. Y and G are indicators, and I have tried all the others in combinations in the "what I thought" correct posy, to no avail, and it is now driving me nuts.

I have looked at all the diagrams, and was going to take the boat/trailer back to get re-wired on Saturday, but up here everyone is at the FeNaClNG festival, and also an Army of Unfriendly non local cops so no good just running the Gauntlet. The local Cops will understand, Perth Traffic -- No way.

Any help appreciated, would love to go for a fish.

Been battling and has it sussed now. Stilly/Commit yes that what I came up with. But if I had posted some time earlier it would have saved me a lot a swearing.

Im such a twang when it comes to this, I read the diagram backward. All it took was changing the wires over to the opposite side. What a complete moron.

PS But then I can probably take out your appendix.

Similar Problem

Sun, 2011-07-31 18:47

Had similar thing happen to me en-route to Exmouth beginning of the month, 5 core cable rubbed on the trailer frame and blew the fuses,

Only managed to find the issue eventually by pulling out the wiring out from the trailer frame and then couldn't remember the wiring orientation, sitting at a shut roadhouse just north of Gero at 11pm at night.

By the time I had it cut out the melted wire I didn't have enough length to get it back together.

Trailer wiring is just one of those bastard things innit.

guys save your self some hassles and stress and write the colours and pin numers on your winch post with a permanent maker and it will allways come in handy next time, whether for you or some one else having a bad day

But I have a emergency file in the dash of the boat. All sort of DIY tips should the Sh*t hit the fan. Diagram with writing on it now in this file, and the Moron has learnt.
