What crimps and pliers?

Hi guys
Does anyone make paternoster rigs using aluminium crimps? I want to try making different rigs using aluminium crimps but not sure what crimps or pliers are best.
What do you guys reccomend
Cheers CCC

G'Day CCC

For the super deep (200-500m) rigs we use ali crimps and a double barrel crimping tool.

As for standard paternoster rigs we just tie knots to the three-way swivels.

Crimping!

I use ali crimp sleeves for mono and never had an issue and copper for wire! As for crimping tools used Jinkai and Gladiator and they all work fine but the Gladiator are great value!

Faster

Fastest way I have found to make paternoster rigs is to crimp the top swivel & crimp the loop at the bottom for the sinker. You only have to tie a twisted dropper loop for the hook & you are in business.

Much quicker & the right crimp will be stronger than the best Knot.

Ps. Only use aluminium crimps with nylon.

Cheers.

Most ali crimps that fail is because they have been done

wrong.I use the jinkai pliers but the trick is as you crimp along the sleeve you turn the pliers over for every second crimp. The crimp stays straight and i havent had one fail yet done that way.
