I work for fisheries research as a technical officer, dissecting spangled emperor, red emperor and spanish mackerel for Gascoyne IFM and for CSIRO genetics.

I've also run fishwrecked for the last 4 years which keeps me busy on the side. ;)

I work in Environmental Management - IT Recycling and Disposal

Mon, 2009-03-09 08:16

Having spent 30 odd years in IT I have taken on the challenge of dealing with end-of-life for IT technology and general electronic waste recycling and disposal. I am about to make a move to expand the scope of what I do.

In my spare time I like to fish of course. I drive a Holden Frontera SE 4x4. Not a bad small 4x4, very comfy and handles well. I am a sucker for the odd bottle of red Wink

Mon, 2009-03-09 11:30

Up until four years ago Bob was truck driver, mc license and I was a purchasing/Receival Clerk.  Now retired, enjoy Leeman, 4x4 bush bashing & beach.  I love beach fishing ( he humours me) and Bob loves deep sea fishing, I like to go out about 10 miles.  Just love retirement, enjoy volunteering at our Club, Bob's on committee.  We both love seeing people enjoy themselves when Social Functions are help etc.

Apprentices these days in the building and construction industry are earning $50k - $60k/yr. Out in the bush, our mate Jay would be pulling $80k - $100k, particularly cos he is local and not FIFO - locals are gold and are paid accordingly.

No such thing as slumming it as an apprentice anymore.

what would be a ballpark figure for one of those set-ups?

That would suit my parents on their grey nomad voyage superbly. At least your not stuck driving your house all the time (like with an RV), yet you can tow a decent boat around with you unlike with a caravan. Best of both worlds I reckon....

you are right about tom price

I dont think they could pay me enough to work there again. Did some cable spraying there and have no wish to ever return as long as I draw breath. I rate it right up there with Mt Whaleback in Newman, Yandi - all those top places.

And why would you bother making a distinction between TP and Marandoo? Isn't it like 50 clicks away? You could throw rocks at each other if you like.

Jobs.

Mon, 2009-04-13 18:55

I am retired now but I have had a number of jobs from engineering jobbing shops. 12 years at the Reserve Bank of Australia, 13  months at Murdoch Uni. A year at Nix Sheet Metal, I managed the engineering section at DrillCorp and I owned the kiosk on Whitford Station for five years.

I saw a TV advert for an exercise machine today and it was said that just three minutes a day of the machine would give me the body I dream of.  How will three minutes a day on an exercise machine give me Miss World?

Counsellor / family mediator

Fri, 2009-04-24 02:11

Counsellor / family mediator / social worker in Exmouth.

specialising in the treatment of such malady's as "I'm depressed because these pesky makeral keep eating my lures" and     "I suffer from anxiety about whether I will have to throw spangos back again to keep under my bag limit" and    "I think I have a split personality - one day I think spearfishing is the best thing in the world and then the next day I think fishing is better and then i sorta like diving again and then i catch some fish and change my mind again......"  and my favourite      "I think my relationships's in crisis - the missus said she cant get me a beer and fillet the fish and get me the TV remote and wash the boat down all at once when I get home.  I told her to take her time so why did she still throw something at me"

...not really - but still a pretty good job.

actually - I find it

Fri, 2009-04-24 10:23

actually - I find it interesting to note that serious fisho's are not that well represented in my client list.  my theory is that fishing is probably better phycho-therapy than anything I can offer here in an office. (hmmm - maybe I can claim all my fishing gear as a professional development related tax deduction )
