Yardie Creek in October
Submitted by Kingfisher549 on Thu, 2010-05-27 14:38
Heading to Yardie Creek in October, fishing from the shore as the wife (boss) wants to sleep in comfort in the camper. Even suggested we take two vehicles. Boss wasn't interested!!
Require advice on what to take and what fish to target, actually looking forward to working the shore.
Will slip in a few bottom bouncing rods just incase I get a ride on a boat.

only just seen this thread.
only just seen this thread. be prepare for some nice fish from the beech.anywhere along the coast near yardi creek from what i have heard are quite productive at times, just a matter of finding the fish. look for areas that there is a gap between some reefy areas . a decent beech rod and running heavier line would be a positive thing as there are some monsters out there.

Boat Harbour
Walk south about 1.5 - 2kms to a reef- rock spit going out about 50m in a sw direction, had plenty of fun there with light gear Queenies, trevally and sharks at night. great spot to camp too. Just cross yardie and keep going. Good luck

Stoinka's Advice
As stoinka has said, go to boat harbour, theres quite a few of those little rockbars there that you can get bluebone, queenies sharks and spangos. Otherwise you can get spangos off the Yardie beach, except it gets fished pretty hard.

Will be windsurfing during the day so the night fishing as suggested looks like it could be outstanding.

catch your own bait @Exmouth
After just returning from a 2 week family holiday at Exmouth,( all shore based fishing) I would highly recommend purchasing a hand throw net (3/4 inch) and paying the $40 licence fee @ the Exmouth Post Office . After watching the locals next to us catching heaps, and us catching not much..then investing in 0ne myself it inceased our catch ten-fold. Look for the baitballs (hardy heads) along the beaches, keep refreshing water in your bucket( you can buy a small airation pump for your bucket if you are keen!) Freeze any that die for berley the next day. use the live ones on a small hook with a running sinker depending on the wind.
Hardy heads and lures the way to go.
Hope you have a good trip. We did.

I've caught plenty of
I've caught plenty of spanglies and trevs around the Osprey Bay/Sandy pt area so imagine Yardi beach is similar. Just make sure you get a map as there's a no shore fishing sanctuary there.
I remember seeing "stay on the track" signs around Yardi creek, not sure if they were asking or telling so may pay to check if you can walk along the river bank.

The big schools of fish you
The big schools of fish you see in Yardie are usually Mullet, though I've caught small trevors and long tom in there too. Wouldn't be surprised if a few queenies or YF Bream found their way in there either.
