Dunsborough Mooring

Hey fellas

Im chasing a mooring in Dunsborough for 6 days from 24th Feb- 29th Feb. Just want to launch and retrieve once at Geograph Marina on the way down and back if possible. 7.8m Glass boat.

Anyone know of anything that might be available for hire?

Cheers

Stevo

Does anyone have a contact for these guys?

Just wondering if anyone has a contact for the owner of this boat?
Message me rather than posting here.

Rotto, bizarre surge

We are at Rotto on the beach moorings in front of the pub.

Raining and I'm playing with the plotter when the boat just lays over on its chine, high and dry, 15 secs floating to dry.

in about 5-10 minutes it was half a meter higher than before and now back to normal, never really seen anything like it outside of cyclone/tsunami.

1 meter rise and fall over 10 minutes, not surge but just down, up and stop.

Guys next door spent the 10 minutes grunting to get their boat off and were then up to their waists

LED light bars for boats

We are looking to fit LED bar lights to our rescue vessels and wondering if anyone else has done this and how they go with the exposure to salt water.

Also any recommendations as to which ones to use

Boat ramps - Power on/off

I'm curious why some boat ramps in Perth don't allow you to power off and power on your boat onto the trailer. Makes the Bar Crusher catch feature very redunant. Curious to hear people's reasons and opinions please. I was informed that it wasn't allowed at the ramp I was at today.

south west highway

went down to pinjara today to have a look at a vintage motorcycle , thought I would push on and have a look at yarloop , the place is flattened , It brought tears to my eyes to see such a historic town brought to its knees , if your heading down south stick to the Forrest hyway as after you leave pinjara , there are hundreds of workers down that way and traffic speeds are down to 20 to 40 kmh all the way to yarloop and past , good on the western power blokes stringing line down there in difficult circumstances and all the vollys cutting back burnt trees from the side of the road , and congrats to all the different council blokes from all over the metro in their vehicles (council suburbs names on their vehicles) down there helping out , good to see aussie spirit is still alive and strong

unsure

bit unsure wether to tone it down one more shade or go with it and finish it off, must admit thou bit different than the dull; grey look

THIEVING DOGS! Pic of Ski Biscuit Added

Thanks to the farken arsehole/s that stole my kids xmas present today from pt kennedy beach. Never been used before 3man ski biscuit, 2 life jackets and 25mteres ski rope. Due to high wind we had to move and during this time we got robbed!  Lowlifes! And my wife has blamed me for it and belted me with a cricket stump which has left me in rocko hospital for stitches....Happy Aussie Day?

This is the biscuit but Green if anyone hears of a cheap one or "found" one just lying on the beach.

Australia Day from Bali

I hope everyone is having a great time !!!!!!! As for Bali the weather is stormy but it's still warm and the beer is cold !!!!!!

Nice storm around Mandurah atm

Been watching a cell form on Willyweather looked to be down near Lake Clifton. Bubbled up and have been getting real steady rain now for about half an hour in Lakelands. Looked like Halls Head and South would of been getting heaps.

Recent wind forecasts

Is it just me or have the recent wind forecasts been very average. Only on the day does it seem to be even close to the prediction. I dunno maybe it's just my fishing frustration picking on the weather forecasters

Interesting

Cant wait to see what this is going to do now should be a complete different boat

It's on at the G

woeful batting, hopefully we can tighten the screws with the pill.

Gumtree Bay

Anyone has any issues with the rangers camping at Gumtree bay?

We haven't been up there for a few years and interested if it's still "tolerated"

2nd hand boats $10000

 Howdy all

Wanted people's thoughts of a  Frazer western craft 525 with a 90 hp v4 evinrude on it , after looking at a heap of boats over the last couple of weeks inc mustang, swift craft , pacemaker a plethora of half cabins I think I have found what is in my needs. A western craft 525 with a big open deck which is what I really wanted not a half cabin with no deck. It seems the best and tidiest I gave seen, can any one tell me if they are a good ocean going boat please thanks

as far as I know Jobe Watson has won 2 b/f with the bombers james scungy hird has won 5 both have won brownlow medals , Watson was honest and said yss I was injected , Stephen Dank says yes injected james as well as it is an anti ageing drug , if jobes brownlow is taken of him so should hirds if he was to ok to fill his players with junk whats not to say he wasn't on some kind of gear at his prime

isnit just me or what

is it just me or do other people think something stinks with our state govement they gave 2 mill to rebuild yarloop but can still afford to build lizzy key for 2 billion dollars , nobody from yarloop will see that money it will be administered by faceless state employee's scared to send out some money in case they get a kick in the arse

Gotta love the Big Bash

I'm WA through and through, but if Chris Lynn doesn't get an Australian call up, then I don't know who they'll pick. I'm loving this game, and last nights was a ripper too.

Catching crabs

For the last few mornings I have been travelling round Mounts Bay road to Charlie Gardiner hospital and have noticed numerous boat fishing for crabs in close to shore and all in my opinion are doing it wrong.

Firstly, they are coming down wind [I know this is the easiest way to pick up the floats] and secondly, coming in with the sun behind them.

The reasons why are, coming down wind and with the sun behind you, it creates a shadow that goes over the pot and seconds later the actual boat and scares the crabs before you get to the floats resulting in any crabs on the edge of the pot to scarper.

Would be interesting if it is any of our members doing the crabbing to find out how they got on

Lost. Propeller

A work colleague of my wife was fishing out of Karratha on Saturday and he lost his prop 10 Km's out. He had gone out for the day fishing with his wife and young kids (5 and 6) and had just pulled up when he has lost the prop.

Karratha Sea Rescue brought him in safely after a few hours wait. He was full of praise for their professionalism during the rescue operation.

So he lobs up to his mechanic to organise another prop only to be toLd there is a bit of this going on ? The mechanic is suggesting that more than one boat has lost their prop and that there have been instances of it up and down the coast. Rumour is that this is the latest from "tricksters" that think it might be funny to leave a boat without any means of propulsion on the water.

Dunno how true it is or if it's just a bit of an urban myth but if it is true I have to wonder how many brain cells are bouncing around in the empty containers that is the head of these "tricksters". I can't believe that they would endanger life so witlessly.

Has anyone else heard of this ?

Vale The Thin White Duke

David Bowie, One minute I'm reading about his new album for his 69th birthday and now he's gone to meet up with Major Tom. Great musician and showman who was probably a bit before his time.

 Hey guys

After getting a few dodgy characters around for quotes thought I'd try see if a fellow fisher are or knows a decent roof plumber? Looking at getting the leaky tiles replaced with colourbond with matching gutters and down pipes.. House is in Greenwood.

Car fridges....which one?

Hi guys, looking at getting a car fridge next month and was hoping for a bit of feedback on a few I'm eyeing off. Want an 80L so its big enough to cart shopping back from Kalgoorlie to Leinster.

First one I hav eyes on is a National Luna aluminium 80L. Heard good things about these, but quite pricey. ATOM supply stock them and as luck would have it I can get a 45% discount at ATOM through the mining company I work for, haven't got a quote as yet but should be around the $14-1500 mark working off its original RRP on the NL website. But could be more if ATOM do big mark ups. And I don't know what warranty I'd be getting till I ring.

Second is the mighty Engel. Looking at the MT80F model sold at Rays Outdoors in Kalgoorlie, advertised for $1799. 3 year warranty probably won't even come into play.

http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/Product/Engel-MT80F-Fridge-Freezer-80L/121476?menuFrom=5041140

Third is one I only just stumbled on while surfing through the Supercheap Auto website. And thats the Evakool Travelmate TMX75 retailing for $1399 but has a 5 year warranty. Uses the Danfoss BD35F compressor which I think Waeco use (or used to anyway).

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/80-Litre-Evakool-Travelmate-Fridge-Freezer-TMX75-Side-Opening.aspx?pid=SPO3653066&menuFrom=1021364#Recommendations

My heart is leaning to the Engel because I know they are quality, my parents still use theirs which they've had for about 30 years now. But wouldn't mind hearing opinions. Not really interested in Waeco's as I've heard their insulation is pretty average but correct me if I'm wrong. And Rays only have them up to the CFX65 which isn't really big enough, and I'm not up for driving the 1800km round trip to Perth to get a bigger one

Cheers!
