Crazy scenes at Hillarys
Submitted by Colin Hay on Sun, 2008-09-21 11:18I dropped down to Hillarys at the crack of dawn yesterday. The weather wasn't great, but it was going to be better than today
As those who ventured near the ocean yesterday know it was a bit windy and there was a fair swell. But that didn't seem to bother a few nutters. This included four young guys in a very small aluminium dinghy which was almost down to the gunnels even before it left the harbour, and three guys on a jet ski, one of whom was about 10 years old. Even the charter boats were getting battered getting out yesterday so I don't know what these guys thought they were up to.
I noticed the volunteer rescue people were warming up their boat expecting some trouble,
All the best, Colin Hay

Including the spot where Kasey caught his 24kg Dhuie on jig, plus other spots where several of the Mindarie Mayhem vids were shot. Departing Mindarie Marina.

Any Beach Reports for Today????
Submitted by UncutTriggerInWA on Sat, 2008-09-20 10:11I am thinking about braving it up past Two Rocks today as I have this desire to FISH! Are any of you people able to give me some idea of the state of the beaches and conditions at the moment??? Seabreeze.com.au is showing moderate westerly conditions with moderate seas. Not quite sure what to make of that though.

Kayak Help!!
Submitted by Bodie on Fri, 2008-09-19 12:04Well the Missus has given me the green light on getting my first Kayak.....she is calling a Christman present from her to me... how that works i dont know!!
But im quite new to the kayak environment (Eventho ive used them a fair bit in the past) but ive never bought one.
So what im chasing is some guidence on possible kayaks to buy.
Basically i want to be able to use it for all sorts of fishing... cockburn sound, Ocean fishing down south, river fishing, and trout fishing
The things ive seen i would like to have is
1. the peddle wings for movement.
2. atleast 2 storage compartments.
3. single seat
4. Sounder, and possibly GPS depending on price.
5. atleast 2 rod holders.
Budget, well i dont really have one, but i would like to keep it under $2,500.
i will also be buying a 2nd one aswell, as the missus says she wants one as well, altho i see my mates getting more use!!
So if anyone can point me in the right direction and has some suggestions would be appreciated..
Cheers
Bodie

U/W camera test run
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Thu, 2008-09-18 18:46Had some old footage that I cut up and put into a small vid. The water was very dirty and green and we could only dive 3-4m as it was hard to see the fish. The video will show that. I've put it up on you tube as its not really good enough for the site. Just a teaser of what I hope to capture when we get some nice weather and good visibility. Also had bugger all bottom time from a big night the night before...
I was out on Tuesday and had 3 manta rays swimming around me which is one of the most awesome experiences I've had, they just came in and sussed me out. Unfortunately the water was too green then and I couldn't get any good footage. :(

It will be interesting to see what direction he heads in.
I have met him a few times and he is a decent bloke, but can be led by other people in the party and not follow his own beliefs,
