Great learning experience
Submitted by 7739ian on Mon, 2009-04-06 09:13Many thanks to Damo6230 for a great day out on the Blackwood yesterday teaching me a lot about bream fishing, the river and boat handling. Whilst i have fished the Blackwood years ago it was apparent i was lacking in several areas - that is just about everything. Damo was a very patient and helpful and a mine of information - if i retain 20% i will be 100% better fisherman. It is this sort of generosity that makes Fishwrecked members such as Damo an asset to the sport. Cheers mate.

I have organised a trip out to the coral sea to fish wreck and kenn reefs. The trip is for 10 days from 16 to 26 May.The boat is the Eastern Voyger and i am 2 guys short of the 14 needed so i need some keen fishos. The fishing will be done from the mother ship and 5, 4.4m dorys.
There are 7 x 2 birth cabins and 2 x 4 birth cabins all air conditioned. All meals are cooked for you, you are fully catered for.

The boat departs from Gladstone, QLD

you will also need to bring,
Hat & sunglasses, fishing gear, sunscreen lotion, towel for the tenders/beaches, snorkelling/diving gear, sand shoes for reef walking.
A $500 non refundable deposit will need to be payed to me or the charter company to book your spot.
So if you or a couple of mates are interested in a trip on the other side of
the country send me a pm

Moorings in Dunsborough Eagle Bay and Bunkers Bay
Submitted by cocokye on Mon, 2009-04-06 03:50Looking at spending a few days over easter in Dunsborough and looking to moor the boat. What is the ruling on moorings at Eagle bay and Bunkers bay . Are they all private moorings as I have observed some with identification numbers on and some with just floats unmarked.
Does anybody have the answer as i would hate to upset some Chardonay sipping family when hooked up to there mooring.

Living the dream- few month stay in Exmouth
Submitted by Lucky Tim on Sun, 2009-04-05 11:06Hey fellas
Well after a bit of driving with the boat and then returning for the caravan we've finally made it to Exmouth and parked up for a few months. If anyone's up here for a holiday in the next few months or lives here and is chasing a decky (fish or spear) let me know- always keen to head out with others. I've got my boat but being 15' it does limit on the iffy weahter days. Gonna be chasing the billies mainly until I cross one off the "to do" list then it's onto other challenges. Stay tuned for hopefully some good pics and weather. Been lucky so far with the weather and arvo glass offs, heading out to Tanta's this arvo for the first real marlin crack. We're staying in the Ningaloo Caravan Park in town if anyone's staying here. Flick me a PM if you want to catch up.

how do you land a fish
Submitted by davey on Sat, 2009-04-04 18:11just curious if there is anyone out there that could give me some tips on landing fish on a boat
Its not that i personally have issues but im sure there is at least one person (colin the tuna loser) that could use some tips.
Apart from the aforementioned colin losing me my first ever tuna at the net :-( we just had a great outing in the sound.
I had a slow start as per usual whilst colin built up a very respectable bag containing KG,leatherjacket breaksea cod, fox fish, herring among others.
we then decided to troll some lures on our way back in. first run was the tuna, then a snook, then a few more herring.
it had alll gone quiet and we where almost home when the rods started going off again,we had come across some salmon.
we pulled in around 20 salmon (most released) before heading home.
A top day again with mr dreamweaver (tuna excepted)
cheers

Advice Needed?
Submitted by DieHard on Sat, 2009-04-04 10:01Hey
i hav got some lures but can i use them to be jigged as i av asked ppl and they say yes but i fish in about 35 metres of water around 3 mile.
in the pic i av 2 glow ones and 2 red ones the rod and reel i reckon is best is my baitcaster 6ft with 10lb fireline.
the jigs weigh i thnk 20grams.
i also av the blu one which is 110g on the other side it looks like a squid and glows in the dark very very bright and for ages.
would it be suitable for my rod or is it too heavy?
How would i fish both lures?
thnx
Eric

Rigging Skirted Lures
Submitted by WODF on Fri, 2009-04-03 17:59Hey guys, need some help. I'm going to be buying a few skirts in the coming days and was after some advice on the best way to rig them as I'm very new to these lures. The skirts I'm getting are fairly cheap'ish compared to a lot of others, brands include Williamson and Richter. Size of leader and length? Wire or no wire? Diagrams or pics would be of great help. Any other hints or tips would be great aswell.
Thanks

Fresh water licence
Submitted by 7739ian on Fri, 2009-04-03 16:12Going breaming with Damo6230 on the weekend on the Blackwood. When does the need for a freshwater licence kick in. Only bank fished there before and never bothered checking - it's pretty saline miles up so maybe it's not a necessity. Any comments?

Gnaraloo fishing?
Submitted by Boppo on Thu, 2009-04-02 10:00Trying to get some information on fishing off Gnaraloo. Was going to go up to exmouth but decided to try somewhere new in early May.
Don't know wether to take my 12ft tinny or 17ft savage or just stick to exploring and casting a few lures off the beaches. Not out to kill the pig but a few spanglies for the table and a bit of sportfishing would be good.
Any info will be most appreciated, Ta
