Tantabiddie update
Submitted by bluemule on Sun, 2014-02-09 07:13Hi all,The wife and I are traveling back to Exmouth in July for three months R&R from Sydney.
Last year we saw pitures of the damage the storms caused to the sand washed out of the creek, to the boat ramp, at Tantabddie. Can anyone bring us up to speed as to the condition now. We saw photo's of one lost LC at the end of the ramp mid last year.
Regards Jim

Landbased tailor fisherman choice on braid
Submitted by Super peg on Sat, 2014-02-08 16:39Just decided after at least 3 shit stirring tangles with Extreme FWA braid a session I'm up for a new spool, with salmon season coming I'm looking at 12- 15 lb line,
i know this has been done over n over so this is just for the people doing what I do, landbased spinning, belting out lures with no time for tangles or you loose your lure.
just the brand and poundage if your like it and reccomended it,
All help appreciated,
price is optional but medium ranges is better

Fishing section in West Australian paper (7/02/14)
Submitted by vscorsa on Sat, 2014-02-08 07:41Hi All,
In yesterday's paper there was a photo of a young fella holding up an impressive Dhu fish. On the deck of the boat there were numerous other fish as well as what looks like 3 more dhu's.
I thought the boat limit for Dhu's was 2 with one per license holder, is that the case or have I missed something?
The intention of this post isn't sling sh-t at anyone, instead just trying to understand the rules.
Thanks

Submitted by deig on Fri, 2014-02-07 21:29Hi all I have a fishing trip planned with 2 mates at the start of April where we plan to spend week in kalbarri and a week in shark Bay. None of us are anywhere near experienced fisherman and we have been warned to be very careful when launching in kalbarri. Can anyone give us some tips on launching at kalbarri and the risks involved. Also any good suggestions for fishing each area would be appreciated?

Gillnetting removed from Roebuck Bay
Submitted by Subaquatic on Fri, 2014-02-07 12:08From Fisheries:
Broome’s famed Roebuck Bay is set to become a jewel in the crown for recreational fishing in the Kimberley, with a decision to remove commercial gillnetting by the end of the current fishing year.
Department of Fisheries Deputy Director General Heather Brayford said the commercial gillnet fishing licences operating in Roebuck Bay had been put up for sale and the State Government had taken the opportunity to purchase them.
“This move will boost the potential barramundi stocks available for fishers in the area and ensure a quality local fishing experience for threadfin salmon in the bay,” Ms Brayford said.
“Importantly, local supplies of fresh fish will still be available in Broome with stocks sourced from other areas off the coast, where other licensees of the Kimberley Gillnet and Barramundi Managed Fishery will continue to operate.”
Ms Brayford said the decision was likely to be well received by local fishers and was supported by the local Yawuru people, Recfishwest and the Broome Fishing Club.
“Roebuck Bay Marine Park is one of five marine parks the State Government has committed to as part of the Kimberley Science and Conservation Strategy,” she said.
“Being on Broome’s doorstep, Roebuck Bay is extremely important to the local community, and with commercial gillnetting removed, there is great confidence locally that tourism will benefit as the word spreads.
“Long term, I also expect fishing charter operators in the area to attract more customers, to enjoy the fishing experience close to Broome.”

Spinfisher 6500 bail arm assembly
Submitted by Super peg on Fri, 2014-02-07 06:47Hey guys, it may be a long shot but, I am in need of a penn spin fisher SSM 6500 bail arm assembly, the previous owner had used locktight and a larger ( I think 8000) size assembly. To use braid on this reel I need to change it to original,
so I was hoping that one of the members here may have a spin fisher lying around that they do not use and is willing to help me out,
long shot I know but worth a crack

Line Lay 2013 Certate 3012H
Submitted by surfhead on Fri, 2014-02-07 06:09Need opinion from anyone owning a Certate, high gear model
The line lay on mine looked terribly wrong, as below
I then had it sent to Daiwa who supposedly inserted a washer or something and returned it as fixed (second photograph). I can see there is a big improvement, but I'm wondering if the line lay shouldn't be near to perfect for a reel of this supposed quality/cost.
The problem is I don't have another Certate to compare it to.
Could anyone who owns a spooled Certate (high gear model) tell me if the line lay on my "repaired" spool looks ok or not ? Daiwa say that being a high gear model the line lay will be uneven?

Beach anchoring at Rotto
Submitted by ctan1968 on Thu, 2014-02-06 21:54Sorry, not really fishing related.
My boat is a support boat for the Rotto swim and I would like to stay the night on board the boat by beach anchoring.
Are any bays north of Rotto allowed? Looking for a bay still close enough to get to the settlement (Geordie, Longreach). South of the Army jetty is available but probably will fill up fast. I do believe its a first in best dressed system.
I am aware I need a landing sticker for the boat when beach anchoring.
Thanks in advance
Chris
