Gday, been looking at these reels for quite some time now, and i am pretty keen on getting one..

from what i have read the PG twinpower seems to be better/stronger than the sustains?  is that right?

Also i want to run 50lb braid on it..will this handle 50lb braid?

If i can get one locally that would be great! anyone selling one? otherwise is there any safe companies over the net that sells them?

Approx what price are they?

After 12 months with y'all on this site I've been lucky enough to catch some fab fishies & and managed to put a serious ding in the bank account.

The problem is the price. Surely there is something smick out there, with a reasonable price tag, to adorn the Expo for chucking stickbaits & 100g poppers at big fast beasties, either from a boat or on the sand?????

Four people have been handed down large fines in the Bunbury Court today, for taking undersize crabs from the Leschenault Estuary. The four people did not appear in court, but all of them entered pleas of guilty. Their cases followed a series of incidents last month, when Fisheries and Marine officers ran a number of patrols at Australind to target recreational fishers who were ignoring laws aimed at keeping local crab stocks in the Estuary sustainable. 35-year-old Barry Narkle of Donnybrook was found in possession of 74 undersize blue swimmer crabs (often called blue manna crabs), when his vehicle was stopped in Cathedral Drive, Australind on Tuesday 15 January. He was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, an additional mandatory penalty of $1,480 and court costs of $110.20. 44-year-old Lera Sinclair and 57-year-old Harry Sinclair from the Perth suburb of Nollamara were each fined $400 and given an additional mandatory penalty of $1160 each as well as court costs of $110.20 each for having 58 undersize crabs when they were apprehended by Fisheries and Marine Officers on Sunday 20 January. Matthew William Free of Bunbury (aged 18) was fined $500 for being in possession of 18 undersize crabs. The court was told Fisheries and Marine Officers had questioned Free, after his vehicle was stopped near the Leschenault Estuary on Sunday 20 January. He was also ordered to pay a mandatory penalty of $360 and costs of $110.20

Southern Region Compliance Manager Peter Godfrey said the Department of Fisheries would continue to prosecute fishers who took undersize crabs. “Magistrate Wayne Tarr said he regarded the matters before him today as serious, because of the depletion of crab stocks,” Mr Godfrey said. The minimum size for a blue swimmer crab is 127mm across the widest part of the shell. All undersize and egg carrying crabs must be returned to the water within 5 minutes. A fourth case before the court today was adjourned to 15 July in Bunbury. Petrina June Farmer and Louise Gaye Bennell of Bunbury (both aged 23) have been charged with joint possession of 53 undersize blue swimmer crabs.

Heritage Minister Michelle Roberts has welcomed $100,000 from the National Trust to the Carnarvon Heritage Group to help repair the One Mile Jetty.

Heritage Minister Michelle Roberts has welcomed $100,000 from the National Trust to the Carnarvon Heritage Group to help repair the One Mile Jetty.
“This offer by the Trust brings to an end a period of uncertainty for the community and ensures the conservation of one of Carnarvon’s great heritage assets,” Mrs Roberts said.
This initial funding will enable the group to source and transport timbers for the repairs. The total cost of repair is estimated at $1.2million.
On October 27, 2007, a fire destroyed a 66m section of the jetty. It has been closed off from the land to the fire site since then.
Many locals feared the closure would devastate local businesses as tourism numbers fell.
Carnarvon Heritage Group Inc chairman Mike Maude thanked the State Government for its support and in particular, Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Vince Catania for his help.
“As chairman of the Carnarvon Heritage Group, I would like to express our thanks to Vince Catania for his tireless work on our behalf, for his encouragement and helpful advice,” Mr Maude said.
“This grant is as much a tribute to Mr Catania’s efforts as it is to the significance of this jetty to the tourist potential of our great town.”
Mr Catania said the repair of the One Mile Jetty would not only restore one of Western Australia’s heritage landmarks, but would return an important tourist asset to the Carnarvon community.
“With additional fundraising, a full repair of the jetty is expected to take 12 months,” he said.

I have been doing a bit of reading up on the Poseidon surf rods made by Kingfisher in South Africa. They sound pretty hot and have been rated very highly by a few fishing sites.

Apparantly some models have interchangeable tips so you can match the type of fishing you are doing. They are also said to be great for casting long distances.

Has anyone ever seen or tried one?

Does anyone know if you can buy them locally at all?

People who enjoy the waters off the State’s South-West are set to benefit from a new $940,000 state-of-the-art marine rescue facility officially opened in Busselton today.
Police and Emergency Services Minister John Kobelke said the new facility would be the centre of operations for the Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group.
“Marine House, situated in Geographe Bay, will not only meet current needs, but serve the community as the region continues to grow,” Mr Kobelke said.
“Over the past three years, the number of sea rescues in the region has basically doubled and in the past month alone, the group attended 41 incidents.
“Every single one of those call-outs means a life was saved, so it is vital that the best possible equipment and facilities are available to the volunteers.”
The Minister praised the tireless commitment of the Marine Rescue Volunteers who selflessly made themselves available 24 hours a day, seven-days-a-week, to assist and protect others in times of emergency.
The new facility has been fitted out with the latest in radio communications, an electronic weather station and radar with a 64 nautical mile range, capable of monitoring the waters from Margaret River to Preston Beach.
Mr Kobelke said the new centre had already started to benefit the community.
“The group recently responded to a distress call from a family of four whose boat had engine failure and who were drifting dangerously close to rocks just off Dunsborough,” he said.
“The group advised the family to drop the anchor while they immediately headed out there, using the new radar to locate the family’s exact position before towing them safely back to shore.”
South-West MLC Adele Farina welcomed the new facility, which is expected to attract more volunteers to serve the growing population of Busselton.
“Plans are to have volunteers staff the headquarters daily and take over the 24-hour marine radio monitoring, resulting in faster emergency response times,” Ms Farina said.
“The new facility would not have been possible without the support of Fire and Emergency Service Authority, Lotterywest, the Shire of Busselton and the Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group.”

Anyone got any good tips for catching ghost crabs on the pilbara beaches at night time. I'd imagine they make pretty good bait.

hey all. just a quick question to see people's thoughts. I have a furuno 600l sounder on my boat. the transducer is installed on the left side of the boat. i like the sounder very much but the only thing is traveling at speed it gets lots of interference, could this be because its on the left and not the right. it reads the bottom depth ok no matter how fast i go but i get lots of mixed data on the screen. my motor sits out on a pod and its got about 500mm between the motor and the transducer. should i move the transducer to the right hand side. does anyone own the same sounder apart form andy  that has any ideas

Went out on the Nebraska yesterday. The weather wasn't too bad. Bit of a swell and bit choppy on the way in, but not too bad overall. We ended up off Two Rocks somewhere. Didn't have much joy myself but there was a nice sambo caught, a nice jewie, a few pinkies, a big king george whiting, a nice flathead and a few other assorted fish.
Tony is a good bloke and a good skipper and he is worthwhile giving a go if you are lookijg at booking a charter.

hey how you guys going, i went to kalbarri for holidays last week and i thought i would try a spot of fishing on the murchison river. well we were using a gang setup and mullies for bait and had a few bites but no luck. if anyone knows the trick to catching mullaway can you let me know. as i havent had the chance to fish much in wa where in freo is a good place to fish and what bait/rig to use.

I have a trip coming up to the kimberly region and was wondering what the best method for fishing barra is and what is the best rig/ lure to use. Some people swear by lures and others live bait. I am keen to try both and catch my first barra but any info that could point me in the right direction to catchin the prized barra would be great.

example 33,33,33 does it become 33,33,330 or 33,33,033 can any1 plze help because with the zero on the end it doesnt seem to get you to the same location.. id apprec any help on this
