South coast swords?? After some info to have a crack at them
Submitted by Chris fish on Fri, 2014-11-28 22:20Hey guys. I'm chasing some inform on swords and I know a few guys on here have longlined before. Rigging and setups I sort of have an idea what I'm more after is what sort of depths where they common? Are they found on the contours so more on the walls or sea mounts/ drop offs or doesn't that matter and just stick to the temp breaks?? I want to give this a good crack just trying to pile together a heap of info and go from there
Thanks in advance

restoring fish hooks
Submitted by randall df223 on Fri, 2014-11-28 21:02Does anyone restore their own fish hooks that are showing signs of rust? I have replaced these on one of my favorite lures, but if I could get the rust off them, perhaps they could be recycled rather than thrown out. Is there any particular method for restoring and is it worth the trouble?

Planning a Exmouth land based trip
Submitted by Mad fisherboy on Fri, 2014-11-28 18:40Hi guys, me and my dad are planning on taking the family to exmouth. The problem is we dont know much about exmouh and places to stop on the way to exmouth so i am looking for some help.
We have 7 days to go to exmouth and back as my dad is a fifo so we can't stay too long, we are planning on driving there but want to make one stop on the way as it is too long to go there in one day. Any suggestions/reccomendations will be greatly appreciated.
Also my dad and I are going to be doing a lot of fishing although we are stuck land based, the main reason we are going is to catch bigger fish. We are not too experienced when it comes to bigger fish though and we are seeking advice. Any tips on locations, rigs, baits and species caught would be very helpful.
We will mostly be targeting Spangled Emperor and queenfish as our gear would most likely not be able to handle GT's.
Any help is much appreciated, we just hope we won't be too disappointed
Thanks

squid close to fremantle harbour?
Submitted by randall df223 on Thu, 2014-11-27 18:55I am planning on launching in the river on sunday morning and heading out though the harbour.
Want to get some squid first up and the navionics app tells me there is a squid spot about 0.3 nm off the rock wall of FSC. Has anyone tried there and how was it? I may stop here and check it out and if no good head to Parmelia bank or garden island.
Then the plan is to troll FFB for tuna or macks and keep an eye out for any sambo jigging opportunities.
Looks like the seabreeze will come in before lunch so it may be back into the river for some trolling for tailor later in the day.

Fishing Glenelg, SA
Submitted by Industrymanboy on Thu, 2014-11-27 10:22This might be a long shot, but working is sending me to SA next week and I will be staying near the Water in Glenelg.
I will have an evening free so I was thinking I might try and wet a line. Has anyone got any advice for that area?
Also, having never travelled with fishing gear, what are some tips that I should be aware of ?
Cheers

The best fishing holiday experience i have ever had!
Submitted by fisho1983 on Wed, 2014-11-26 20:34Hi Everyone,
In all my fishing experiences around this country and overseas, I have never been to somewhere as amazing as Shark Bay, just up from Geraldton and approximately midway in Western Australia itself.
The place which really left me speechless was a place the locals call Borals Bar.
To get to Borals Bar you will need to get a boat from Denham and go towards the salt mine operation, on the other side of the bay.
Borals Bar, from what I was told by a mine official, is where the seawater is collected, fed into the primary ponds going into the salt farm eventually extracting salt.
Now because it is a mine area you are not allowed on the gangways or water gate bridge, however you are allowed general access to Borals Bar itself, as long as you stay in your boat and fish from your boat (and don't walk around shore).
Fishing as close to the gangway at Borals Bar as possible without disturbing the mine, I have to say I have never nor caught as many snapper as I did that day.
On average I was hooking Pink Snapper at least every 1-2 mins( The locals call them 'stinky pinkies', as they get sick of catching them all the time).
There is also an abundance of Mulloway, Wrasse, Bream, Mackerel, Queen fish, Tailor and Shark.
I can't recommend this fishing area highly enough,I just wish I had allocated more time in my trip to this place!
I can only liken the place to fishing in a fish farm where you are guaranteed a fish strike and would rate it a A+++.
Good fishing and there is plenty of tackle supply stores in Denham who can show you Borals Bar on a local map if you get lost!
