Quobba and Blow Holes
Submitted by elliotbirch on Tue, 2013-03-26 15:14Hey guys,
I'm heading up to Blow Holes beach on Friday and am staying there for a week, will be with people who have been going up there for a long time and have a 'shack' on the beach which I believe is at the south end? Just wondering what the reports are like at the moment from anyone who has been fishing the area?! They have a boat which we will take at everyday, weather regarding though. I've heard that the beach is quite a calm bay as it is surrounded by a reef system, so wondering if there is any point throwing mulies off the beach at night for a bit of fun?
Thanks! Any comments much appreciated.

Rod to Match Catalina
Submitted by choorles on Tue, 2013-03-26 13:55Hey guys,
Im heading up to West Moore Island in a month and have got most of my gear sorted but want to find a casting rod to match my Catalina 4500
Currently have 50lb braid on it looking at a rod to throw poppers for gt's etc off a boat. Already checked out a few rods but they seem a bit stiff was hoping to get something with a little bit of finesse in the tip to possibly work some plastics/lighter lures as well.
Any help greatly appreciated, Budget $200-$300
(also anyone been to west moore this year?)
Cheers

DF70 Suzuki Questions
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2013-03-26 11:21Hello all. I have asked this question to a couple of members on here but now will put it out to the wider audience to see if anyone has had personal experience with this. I'm still doing my home work and want to get it right. I want to put a DF70 on the rear of my 4.75m Quintrex Bayhunter project boat. The weight of this is 155kg compared to the DF60 of 104kg. I have been told it's possible to put the 70 on but want to make absolutely sure. Are there any Gurus who can steer me in the right direction. Cheers Andy

Submitted by Wayno1 on Tue, 2013-03-26 00:28Greetings all,
I`m having a boat shipped up to Samson from Perth soon and I`m a bit concerned about damage from rocks and shit while its on the truck. Does any one know who does the plastic shrinkwrap in the metro area.
Cheers,

GT Fever in the Whitsundays QLD Inaugural Tournament
Submitted by Longcast on Mon, 2013-03-25 21:58GT Fever in the Whitsundays is a Giant Trevally catch and release Tournament.
Located in the Whitsundays QLD which has one of the largest population of GT's in Australia.
Knowing this is not for every one but there is a die hard fraternity of GT anglers who view this site I thought I would post as an information only thread.
This year will be the inaugural tournament and all are welcome.
Breifing is friday the 3 rd of May at the Airlie Beach Game Fishing Club QLD.
Fishing will commence Saturday morning and cease sunday afternoon (Times TBA).
There will be a number of different categories and the rules are nice and simple.
Catch and Release Comp with fish being measured on a brag mat (Wet) picture taken and then released points given for length (Nose To Fork).
Min size GT 60cm.
Fish are only eligible if they are caught on artificial lures (No Bait).
Hooks are Barbless.
Any line class or type may be used.
There Will be three categories.
Biggest (Longest) GT and Runner Up.
Most GT's landed by an individual and runner up.
Champion Team (most GT's divided by number of anglers on boat) and runnner up team.
Entry will be $50 which covers a snag in a bag on the friday night breifing, a solid meal during the Sunday night presentation and the rest will go towardds the trophies etc.Its important to note this event is not about the cash prizes or big prizes...its about having a bit of fun.

FIFO...finally
Submitted by fisho-ron on Mon, 2013-03-25 21:19well its only taken about 6months, but I have finally secured a fifo job. in training as we speak and will be for another 2 weeks and then its off to Yandi(rio tinto). I will be doing power line construction in a variety of machines. only prob is the 4/1 shift, but to get a start had to take it. its gunna be hard not fishing as much but when im home I will hammer it as much as possible. so my question to you lot is..... how to keep sane in the 4 weeks with no fishing?? and how many times do you FIFO's come home to shitty weather and get no fishing at all? I have got myself a laptop for site, i cant miss out on the F/W stuff, i would go round the twist totally. cheers ron edit; had to can my exxy trip as well, had to choose between the job or exxy.....the job won!

Seasons and Fish Behaviour
Submitted by Spinnerak on Mon, 2013-03-25 20:33 Hi guys,
Just after your thoughts, but do fish get less aggressive in winter?
Just a trend I seem to have come across is the number of fish i spook/follow in winter seems to be a lot higher in winter than summer on lures.
Cheers, Andrew

Kalbarri boat fishing trip
Submitted by AlwaysFishin on Mon, 2013-03-25 18:02Hey guys I'm planning another trip to Kalbarri from April 10-14. Been there a few times before but this time I'm taking up my 18 foot pacemaker. I'm aware of the dangers of the river mouth but as this will be the first time I've had the boat up there I'm not really sure on where to start fishing, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me out a little. I'm not asking for gps marks, but just some general areas to start looking. I'm hoping to target tuna and macks while trolling and the normal demersals bottom bashing. If anyone could please give me a heads up it would be much appreciated.
Edit: If anyone could give me any info as to what weather to expect for April would be good also.
Cheers, Jarrod

Submitted by FISH-ON on Mon, 2013-03-25 14:55Went ot the E Shed at 7: 35 met some great guys caught some scalies but them on as livies and casted out and waited i was catching some livies and talking at the same time i was talkin when my rod went of i picked my rod and striked then the fish woke up and it ran i had a spinfisher penn 850 and the fish almost spooled me it went straight through everybodies line one of the guy's took over as it had almost spooled me it finally broke but did not mind because it was my first run. i rigged up again on a dead scalie made as a butterfly biat i casted out and waited. i had just heard that there was a 14kg mulloway caught of north mole and the current started to run so i thought the mulloway would be starting up i was just about to pick up my rod when something toook it and it fell in the water i was so sad and if anyone finds a 10ft rod and a penn spinfisher 850 i would be very grateful if someone contacts me with it but 99% choice i won't get it back. Straight after i lost my rod one of the guys caught a 10 kilo mulloway it was great fun and i am definatly going next weekend!!!

Trolling/Boating etiquitte
Submitted by Subaquatic on Mon, 2013-03-25 13:11Twice this year I have had a pattern with teasers cut off by another boat cutting across the stern. It does not take much of an effort to stay back +30 metres.
Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?
It took bagloads of effort to refrain from action/comment when the clowns pulled up along side me at O/Reef later that day.
So Mr Grey Rhib with the pirate flag, count ya blessings that I ended up having a good day.....and you owe me a new Witchdoctor.

Some FW crew have bad manners
Submitted by bradz on Mon, 2013-03-25 12:58I have just come across another post where someone is trying to sell an item and some of the "know it alls" on this site have decided to derail his ad.
If you have any helpful advice you would like to offer to someone selling an item, use the correct protocol and send them a PM. If the item is too cheap, too expensive, who cares. It is not up to individuals to make a hero of themselves.
Adam, could you please look into placing a stick on top of the for sale section clearly stating that posters are not to negatively comment on for sale items. Unfortunately this type of behaviour is getting to common and it gets me riled up.
If you think my stand point is wrong, feel free to reply and we can start up a discussion on the matter. For those who agree with me, let Adam know that you feel the same.
End of rant...for now.
PS: Bad manners $hit me to tears.

Coral Bay GPS swap for Lancelin GPS
Submitted by AaronC on Mon, 2013-03-25 10:33Hi all,
I am heading to Coral Bay on Friday for a week and have never fished off a boat there before. I have a boat capable of going deep and was wondering if anyone wanted to swap some Coral Bay co-ordinates for some of my marks dhu/baldy spots of two rocks or Lancelin?
Before anyone bags me out for asking this, understand what this forum is about.
I believe this forum is about sharing ideas/knowledge with fellow fisho's who love fishing as much as i do. Yes there a alot of dickheads on this site and alot of great blokes whom i have met up with and had great times with.
Please do not waste your breath on stupid comments regarding this request. I am only interested in those people who would generally like to help me out and have me help them out. I understand people may think i will give them a GPS spot on sand but this is not the case. I have prevoiusly asked this quesion before and had fantasic results for me and other FW members.
Honesty is all i ask!!!
Thanks for reading and feel free to PM me.
Cheers

Fishing tips
Submitted by joycey on Mon, 2013-03-25 07:48Hi all,
Bit of a newbie to all this.
So far fishing out from Woodies in the 30-40m mark after five fathom bank.
Been drifting with paternoster without much success.
Do you recommend anchoring at this depth or carry on trying my luck drifting ?
Is this a good depth or do I need to head further out to deeper water.
Cheers for any tips...

Easter.....Why not just stay home and be safe?
Submitted by beachsoul on Mon, 2013-03-25 03:44Hmmmmmm Easter.........Most of the beaches are going to be chockers with people from all walks of life......to the point of being HECTIC and potentialy DANGEROUS.( Well anywhere where 4wds are allowed) The roads leading to said beaches are going to be chockers with impaitent people rushing to get to their holiday spots and then rushing to get home again........We all know that their are going to be numerous fatalities on the roads AGAIN.....The boat ramps are going to full of the types of tossers who cant tell the difference between the launch and retrevial lanes. Once on the water you will be risking life and limb from being mowed down unless you are in a BIG boat.......Jetskis will be buzzing around like a swarm of mozzies on steroids. How RELAXING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So why don,t you all just relax and stay home........do some home maintenance, gardening.....or like me.......im going to try and arrange some shifts at work. Then I can ENJOY a wonderful break after all the madness is over.
