Need a new rod
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2009-08-12 18:37Just got my Okuma VSYSTEM V 55 reel in the mail and I'm putting 10kg / 20lb fireline or similar on it. Want to use it for soft plastics for pinkies n stuff, I've got a Starlo Stix Tournament Pro 701M with 14lb fireline for soft plastics already that works quite nicely but I want something a bit beefier for this new reel. I've been looking at a Nitro Godzilla Spin 7' so that's kinda what I'm thinking. Any suggestions?
Cheers

Last order for the "Super Deep" Jigs
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Wed, 2009-08-12 14:39The release of Kaseys awesome WAFM article (Jul/Aug Issue) on "Super Deep Jigging" was a popular one.
One of the fastest sellers as an issue and a great read thats for sure! We've sold out of the Sanme deep jigs (my favourite) and we'll be doing our last order. I've been told that future supplys can have a lead time of 9 months as these are boutique handmade Japanese jigs.
So, if your wanting one or a few of these unique jigs then please PM us for allocation.....numbers limited!
Any enquires, please PM us or call the shop on 9337 5682
Cheers

Where for a Jan fishing trip?
Submitted by slothwan on Wed, 2009-08-12 11:35Hi There,
I have a good friend coming back to W.A. for a break from an expended stay in London. After 3 years of rubbish weather, warm beer and no fish, he's put it to the boys to arrange a week long fishing trip.
I need some advice on where to go, concidering the typical weather at that time of year.
I have a 5m ali runabout.
there will be 4 of us.
Its in the 1st week of January (yes, School holidays, eek!)
None of us are expert fishermen.
I was thinking Augusta, because if it too windy to get out deep, then we can spend a bit of time in the river. But 'm not totally sold on that
What D'yalll think?

Where are the bream?
Submitted by kavman on Mon, 2009-08-10 23:11Hi all,
Me and a mate are launching my little dinghy tm and were just wondering in what general area the bream are biting. Last friday we spent from mt henry bridge and upstream to shelley without a bite. Thinking of launching at the Matilda bay are they around at the moment? Not looking for "secret spots" just a general idea of where to head. Thanks all.
Kav
p.s. there's room for one more 10am - 3pm ish

Will Shimano bring back the TLD5?
Submitted by saltatrix on Mon, 2009-08-10 23:10With the advent of braid this small lever drag has so many applications. Its so light, reasonably priced and its a lever drag. Theres such a market opening for this reel.
Do you think Shimano will ever bring the TLD5 back on the market?

swine flu
Submitted by tailor marc on Mon, 2009-08-10 11:43Well i joked a few weeks back that i wanted it just so i can say that i got it and guess what? I got it all right!
Wed last week bed ridden sore throat like you wouldnt belive, hot cold flushes and massive amount of pressure on the front of my head and back. I have never had anything like that before.
Went to the doc's and first question he asked was "have you had flu needle?"
I replyed yes then he went and got me and him a mask. I was shocked. He said becuse the flu needle knocks out 3 of the 4 flus around at the moment then that leaves one only the swine!
I took thursday and friday off and i damm needed it!!!!
Saterday i was off to swandistricts becuase i was having trouble breathing and a painfull as helll cough. I had to wait 4 hours!!!!!! Lots of people in there sick with swine including kids!
Sat night was the worse with vomiting out both ends.
In total i was in bed from thurs till yesterday completly hammerd!!!!
Try you best not to get it!
Doctors are saying lots of people will get it but it wont kill you but will knock you around like you have never been before.
Im back at work now, its been 6 days and all i have now is a little cough but glad its over

Vacuum unit
Submitted by 7739ian on Mon, 2009-08-10 07:39i am addicted to a web sales site called Zazz - every day they put up an item which is on sale one day only - usually techo geek stuff. But today they have a handheld vacuum unit - not a burn type sealer but i would guess the bags that come with it have a valve thingy. Looks good if you want to freeze or chill fish on the beach and won't be home for a couple of day - just Google Zazz. Under $20.00.

Submitted by Mick on Sun, 2009-08-09 10:03G'day guys
After seeing some awesome photo's on here lately I've decided to take the plunge and buy myself a decent DSLR. I've got my mind set on a Nikon D5000 as it also take HD video. Just wondering if anyone has one or had any experience with one. To me it seem like a pretty well featured unit.

the new Licence proposals
Submitted by Highlander on Sat, 2009-08-08 22:13The New Licence Proposals, which are going to be tabled next week in Parliament, the curious question I would like to ask is, the Demersal Licence, does that mean, when I have paid for mine, does the boat have to be surveyed and do I get issued with a LRFB ( Licenced Recreational Fishing Boat) number?? Along the similar lines, of any licenced commercial fishing boat, makes you wonder, what are they thinking?? Another thought who is going to issue the Demarsal Licence is, it to be a Marine Surveyor ???
Jim.

Fishwrecked.com Exmouth Invitational 2010 - SATURDAY MAY 15th and SUNDAY MAY 16th
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Sat, 2009-08-08 18:20Come all ye fishwrecked members, the Exmouth Invitational competition will be on the SATURDAY MAY 15th and SUNDAY MAY 16th 2010.
Please make your accomodation bookings ASAP and come and join us for a fun filled adventure in the sunny fish filled waters of the Ningaloo reef. It would be best if people could book accomodation in town, or at the Lighthouse Caravan Park for convenient organisation of the 'initiation' and prizes night.
There will be a few changes to the rules for measuring fish this year, but not many. I will inform you of these later.
The competition fee will be $20 per person (an increase on last year to boost the prizes). All competition fees will go into the kitty for prizes, it is not for my profit, it is reward for you guys/girls making the effort to come up.
If anyone knows any organisations/companies that may like to sponsor the competition, please let me know, the more we have, the more you guys get when you win. :)
Any suggestions, please let me know. But hopefully you guys can make it, you have atleast 7 months to get sorted.
The fishwrecked.com Exmouth Invitational has a 4/5 star rating with NEATfish, the govt body regulating fishing competitions. (pending approval)
Cheers,
Adam
