SS Prop Rattle
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Wed, 2023-01-11 14:44Since I popped on my stainless steel prop I have been getting a horrible rattling sound when I have the engine only just in gear in forward and reverse. If I give it a slight rev it goes away and can sometime go away whilst in gear and she drives fine otherwise. I’ve stuck the muffs on it in the driveway and it doesn’t make the rattling sound in forward or reverse so appears to only happen in the water. I’ve contact my mechanic as I thought I may have installed it incorrectly but he’s said that is fine it is just the weight difference between aluminium and stainless steel and not much can be done about it.

Greenhead in a tinnie
Submitted by steve434 on Sun, 2023-01-08 18:58G'Day all,
I'm heading up to Greenhead soon, I'm chasing some advice for inshore fishing. I have a 12ft tinnie and will have young kids with me so I'm not keen on heading out anymore than a couple of kms. What depths can I expect within a couple of kms out?
Any suggestions for spots / areas to try? Even something for bread and butter species so the kids can get onto something.
Does anybody get onto squid up there?

Grease gun couplers
Submitted by Ericl on Sat, 2023-01-07 12:16Hi. Doing most of my trailer servicing and one of the things I find frustrating is getting a grease gun coupling to fasten on and hold on to the zerk fitting. Now considering a quick release coupler and have looked at the locknlube and the alemlube A14512. Has anyone had experience with either of these and anmy recommendation. Thanks - Eric

to calm
Submitted by piscetor on Fri, 2023-01-06 20:58Went out yesterday, no wind no drift, no fish, no crays and a 3 meter bronzy cruising around the boat at the back of the FF. Still better than mowing the lawn.

Tinnie Fishing
Submitted by Seadhucer on Fri, 2023-01-06 16:13Hey all,
Ive just started an instagram page for all things fishing, squidding, crabbing etc if anyones interested in following. Mainly fish the south west reqion in my stessco 460 catcher with 50hp yammie. Plan is to target mainly KG's, crabs and squid and get out and nail a few demersals when the weather allows. Not trying to sell or push anything, more just results from whats possible from our waterways in a tinnie. Anyway, check out and follow voodoo_daze_fishing if your keen.
Cheers

Tinny bow rail fabricator recommendations
Submitted by sstevee on Mon, 2023-01-02 20:06Hi all
Semi-recently got my hands on a 420 Wide Body Dory and after a few trips out have thought about some mods. First one is to get a small bow rail/anchor roller set-up on her. The front currently just has the two handles at the point of the bow and want to get something like this done to it, including the little plates for mounting nav lights and an anchor cleat. Possibly even a rear step on the transom.
Just looking for any recommendations on where to get the work done. Not too sure if many boat builders are bothering with this little stuff at the moment.
Cheers
Steve

Thursday Preston Run
Submitted by Chinbald on Sun, 2023-01-01 13:53Headed down to Preston Thursday in the reefy for a Dhu bash to some ground that has produced some good fish. Unfortunately, despite the sounder looking the goods the fish were completely shut down. Managed to scrape together a bag on a quiet day with the highlight being my biggest KG, measured 56cm and a whisker short of 4lb,

Mercury Trim Tilt
Submitted by Shane O on Sun, 2023-01-01 13:38The tilt/trim isn’t working and the motor was removed. This looks like the original motor. Are there rebuild kits for these in Australia. Or am I better off buying a newer 12V motor. Thanks.
Motor is a Mariner 60hp 2 stroke. Unsure of age of the motor

Water in Fuel
Submitted by ledge64 on Sat, 2022-12-24 14:15
Engine cutting out and found water in the separator swapped the fuel over to the second tank, a bit of cleaning the filter and priming and the 140 HP Johnson etec motor runs OK on the second 100 litre tank, my question is has anyone used the F10 product to get rid of any water in the tank does it work ? as I don't know how much water if any is in the tank, should I empty the tank although not an easy job with 2 x 100 litre tanks under the floor
TIA

Last Day
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Fri, 2022-12-23 21:16Plan was to wake up at 6am and push out wide but the power of a holiday sleep in was strong so pushed out at 8 to familiar grounds. Few fillets for my 90+ year old grandparents then a dusk crab raid to get some for the widower in my street.

Bait board insert
Submitted by davewillo on Fri, 2022-12-23 12:57Hi all
I've had my bait board extended and now need to cut a new plastic board for an insert. Current one is 10mm thick and I'll need minimum size of ~ 630mm x 380mm. Any suggestions on what to use and where to buy it? Planning to do the job on Christmas Day when all 35 of my wife's extended family arrive :-) Faaarrkkk

Blues and KGs
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2022-12-22 13:56Another good night on the scoop on sunset and took the whole family out for a fish this morn. Only wanted a couple of crabs so walked around until I found some 130+ models.
The Boundary Island Brewery is a game changer. Early dinner and a pint then over to island in the wind protected channel for a scoop just on dusk.
