barri croakers
Submitted by tangles on Thu, 2014-05-08 08:22had bradybunch dave come up couple days ago for a fish. Ended up going down to a pinky spit off cliffs around 11am and always good fun watching a bloke get smoked on a big pink! We didnt land any but getting smoked was good enough!
That arvo with the weather looking very fishy! We went for a mulla fish. I managed a small soapy then dave hooked onto a decent mulla! When it was landed it ended up being a donkey!! Always stoked to get guys into good fish and this was a worthy mulla.
Ended up with another smaller one n dave lost another decent mulla. We were all done by 8.30. Good session and some good laughs!
Gota love the croakers. Thanks for the laughs dave.

Gotta laugh at all the salmon fishos
Submitted by woody on Wed, 2014-05-07 17:53All over my FB feed is metro fishos raving about what lure they used to catch salmon etc
I guess it must of been a good year as they schools finally travelled north a bit?
But seriously you could cast anything into a school of salmon and hook up...metals, poppers, hard bodies, plastics etc...its not rocket science and is there any need to spend many $$ buying fancy lures?
(But I may be a bit biased as we tend to catch the pesky buggers all year round)

where to go
Submitted by Tim1511 on Wed, 2014-05-07 17:31hey guys so i go out fishing from hillarys normally of rottnest probally 3-4 north and of geordy bay in about 20-33m of water but havent had much luck not even catching an undersized demersal where i fish there is a point and then u cant see anymore of the island i think thats round where the westend is where abouts does it come into 40 m of water and is it reef there i cant seem to really find any good spots.
I have latley been thinking of fishing of of mindarie/ocean reef but how far out do u have to go out of there to get in about 40 m of water and what direction do u head and is there good ground out there ? does it hold many demersals mainly dhufish. where do u think i am better of fishing rottnest or mindarie/oceanreef wich holds more and better fish. I got a coordinate to the gemenie wreck would this hold dhufish?
thanks

It's Pinkie time
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2014-05-07 09:48For you guys who fish from the beach or jetties etc and want to catch a good fish, this the time for a pinkie. Storm coming in with strong northwesters, this is where I caught most of my Pinkies from South Mole. Fish on the south side along side the lighthouse. Catch a herring and cut it into 3 pieces, that's your bait. Pinkies come in close looking for bits and pieces the storm has washed off or broken away from the groynes. A big chunk of fresh herring will get picked up pretty quick.
Good Luck and Tight Lines.

Surf Popper surprises
Submitted by robduca on Wed, 2014-05-07 08:25Went for a fish at Buffalo beach last night. On the beach a bit late and line in the water at 6pm. Water was like glass. No wind, slight swell.
I used a rig with gang and mulie, surf popper below, sinker on bottom. Wasn't expecting to get anything on the surf popper at night.
Nearly caught more fish on the poper than on bait. Herring, small bream, whiting, pike, and this is what I was most surprised about, a Mulloway.
Ended up catching a dozen herring, 2 pike, 2 small bream, a whiting and 5 undersize mulloway biggest being 42cm.
Just starting to do a bit of fishing around Bunbury a bit more now so hopefully I will have some larger specimens to talk about soon. Had a few decent bites but no big hookups. Really want to get a big mulloway and a shark to fill the freezer.
Cheers
Rob

couldn't find salmon today
Submitted by uncle on Tue, 2014-05-06 18:57took thesupervisor[Rob] out for a salmon hunt, we tried out from hillarys trolling stickbaits and a small deep driver, went into north beach then triggs, threw a few lures around Rob actually got 4 herring on a small slice, continued down to scabs, out to the reef, berlyed up did get 13 big skips up 43 cm,Rob had a good time on the light gear, couple of small sambos, trolled back on the inside of the reef throwing lures into the white water a few more herring then home, will try again soon. mint conditions could put the boat in real close to the reefs

150k budget car and boat, suggestions?
Submitted by troy fuller on Tue, 2014-05-06 17:13When I finally do come back to perth (awhile yet) I'm looking at spending 150k on a boat and 4x4
I would want a boat that's on a trailer, 7m or bigger with probably a single engine as don't want 600$ fuel bill when going out for a fish
and a 4x4 that would be able to tow it and still be able to head on the beach for camping and so on
so my question is, how would you spend 150k on a setup?
also what setup do you have ATM?
Cheers, Troy
