Fishing Discussion
Wind direction all over the place tonight,
Submitted by Dirt on Sat, 2014-04-26 07:44 Really want to take me cousin out snapper fishing at stragglers tonight and try and get him onto some pinkies . Acording to tides for fishing the conditions for a good bight are quite high. My only concern is the wind direction seems different on most of the sights and seems to be changing constantly during the night making it impossible to keep the boat and lines in the right area. Super frustrating

The Wait is over
Submitted by Hovis on Fri, 2014-04-25 21:58The wait is over! After too many months of trying for our first sizable Pinkie – two in one session and a PB Dhuie too!
After trying everything and re-trying (bait and burley, jigging etc…), doubting yourself even re-reading the fish finding manual to fine tune reading the marks.
Turned to soft plastics on the drift; perhaps a combination of luck, weather, sea conditions, planning / preparation and perseverance but the results were very satisfying.
First was the smaller pinkie (60cm), next the Dhuie (90cm), the second Pinkie (75cm) and a Blackass (34cm) to complete our takeable quota (two fishos on board).
We (wife and one of our boys) launched from Two Rocks at 7 am and headed to our pre-chosen marks to return at 11 am.
This caps a great week off from work and the second outing in the boat. The previous trip earlier in the week (Wednesday) I ventured out of Two Rocks, solo resulting in no fish – just couldn’t compete with the ultimate predator, a 14 foot (conservative estimate) GW. This was my first sighting encounter with such a beautiful creature. I must admit rather unnerving too, especially when it circled the boat twice and even followed me when I moved to another mark; burley must have been too good. I decided to call it a day at that point.
Back to work next week, can only dream of mid-week trips out.

Should of left the girl friend at home
Submitted by baron 88 on Fri, 2014-04-25 20:23Brang the girlfriend up to leeman to go camping and a bit of fishing over the weekend. She was dead keen to catch a decent fish having never been boat fishing before. Went out today in awesome conditions and Not long into it she pulled up a decent breaksea cod, she was over the moon to have caught a "decent" fish and even more so beating me to get the first fish on the esky. The day continued with plenty of small to medium fish until late in the day. The drift bait she had out the pack took off and after a long fight on my little 6kg outfit up popped this beauty. 11.2kg for her first ever dhuwie. Not gonna hear the end of this one for a while

Fishing Buffs/Bandanas interested to hear from those that use them
Submitted by sstevee on Fri, 2014-04-25 16:34Hi guys,
So after getting my face a little sunburnt/windburnt on a relatively cool day (tues) I'm looking into a buff to use whilst I'm out on the boat. I'm hoping it will also cut out the reflecting UV's from the water too. Wanted to see what the people that use them think. I know they're not a fashion item but I don't really care how I look when I'm fishing, its function over form for me. If anyone can recommend a brand that'd be great too.
Cheers,
Steve

Sinkers for salmon?
Submitted by lachieH on Fri, 2014-04-25 14:23Heading dow for a shot at some salmon over the weekend and wondering whether I use sinkers or not. Going to use a tailor rig with ganged hooks with mulies. If this makes any difference, I am heading down to Mandurah. I will be taking some lures aswell. Cannot use live baits because of no surf rod.

Tomorrow
Submitted by glack on Fri, 2014-04-25 11:41With the weather looking great tomorow and my normal crew out of town I have a serious dilemma, either waste the day or find a deckie
I fish about 20 mile out of two rocks for dhuies, baldies and pinkys in a 6m Genesis probably leave around dawn and come back early afternoon, normal deal-split fuel, bait and catch evenly and would appreciate a hand to clean the boat at the end of the day
Let me know if you are keen

Best spots outside of Perth to catch mudcrabs
Submitted by JustGoneFishing on Thu, 2014-04-24 21:07Hi Everyone!
I was wanting to try my hand at catching mud crabs but not sure where the best locations are for them. If anyone can suggest some places to go I would be really grateful. Also I would like to ask if a licence is required to catch them as well.
Cheers

Bream size limits
Submitted by fisharoo on Thu, 2014-04-24 20:35Today I had a look at the fish ruler sticker. It says that black bream size limit was 25 and yellowfin bream was 30cms. I was a little confused as I thought that yellowfin bream was tarwine. A little research showed me that tarwine was actually a silver bream. My question is, does yellowfin bream get caught here in perth? I've been catching bream for over 20years.....and only realised this today. I've only thought only two types of bream get caught around here. Black and tarwine.

Submitted by Stew77 on Thu, 2014-04-24 18:21Panick stations lads and I desperately need some clarification. I have just put in 50 litres of E10 fuel into my 100litre fibre tank which had about 20 litres of unleaded in it already.
Will this cause damage being that its only a one of mistake?
Cheers for any help....

transporting boat interstate unless you wanna buy it
Submitted by Davi-d on Thu, 2014-04-24 16:36Would like to know if anyone has sent a boat interstate before? If so who did you use and how much did it cost?
I have to sell or send a friends boat over to QLD. Ive been care taking it for him and since I havent been able to sell it I need send it ASAP. Its a 5.10 Stessco cuddy. Some motors on it that would be better as moring anchors (even with 38hrs on them). The owner is a little greedy but I'd be able to talk him down on anyones behalf. there is a bowrider on boatsales asking 18k I think this thing is worth 13k with the current motors

Biomaster SWA XG thoughts?
Submitted by Formerathlete on Wed, 2014-04-23 16:42Hi all,
Anyone own or has used a Shimano Biomaster SW A XG? (2014 catalogue)
I'm considering the 5000 SW A XG to use on an Assassin Amia 11' spin rod.
The reel specs sound great - gear ratio 6.2:1, 11kg drag and weighs only 315g but I wouldn't mind getting feedback.
Cheers

Exmouth charters
Submitted by Can't Catch on Wed, 2014-04-23 06:54Hey guys. Has anyone got any recommendations for charters up in Exmouth they've been on recently? Looking back on old posts only shows up a few of the smaller operators but i'll be needing a boat to fit around 10-20 people on. Blue horizon, Gamex, Reel teaser, Sea venture and Exmouth deep sea are a few I've found on google but no reviews.
Thanks
