Weather?

Looks like theres some good days coming up over the next couple of weeks has anyone got plans for heading out for a fish? Maybe some offshore tailor fishing or quality table fish are on the cards. Good to get out in winter, most of us wont let days like this keep us at home. :)

Leaders , flurocarbon

OK here is a question for the brim boys and girls , if flurocarbon is clear and fish are unable to see it why do you go down to say 4 pound fluro if the fish are finicky / shy surely if fish can't see it what does it matter if you use 4 , 6 ,8 10 or 20 lb leader .

I can't see what the diff 4 pound would have over say 10 pound if flurocarbon is what they all say it is ?????

Quality little combo

I’m looking to buy a nice little flick rod + reel. Have done a prowl around the site and talked to a couple of tackle stores but ended up more confused than usual.

Not wanting to spend a fortune here – probably manage a coupla hundy without hubby noticing,

Can anyone please enlighten me?

Oh, and it will need to handle a 2oz weight as will also be used for the Dry Casters Accuracy div.

Any help will be a bonus guys.
Thanx

Two Rocks and Mindari

Advice required on fishing new ground.

Have been fishing out from Ocean Reef for many years and finding it harder to find a fish. We usually head slightly north and fish on direction bank or just inside or outside the bank. Over the past 5 or 6 years we have noticed a drastic decline in catch rate to the point that it is time to try new ground. I don't expect others to give me the magic spot to fish but would like to be pointed in the right direction.

When people talk about fishing out from two rocks are they talking about launching at Mindari and heading a bit north or launching at Yanchep (two rock) and heading north or wherever. There is always talk of flat coral ground in 40mtrs out from two rocks but that covers a huge area to look. How far out is the flat coral - on the bank, just before it as it rises up or the first 40mtr mark you hit as you head out.

I know this is a lot to ask but hoping someone may be kind enough to give me some guidance.

Post coment or PM me if you can help.

Thanks  Paul

Casting light line

I tried a few weeks ago, for the first time, light line fishing. The line was 6lb Yamatoyo braid but for me light can be anything under 20lb...

Anyway, I was very surprised how hard it is to fish with line this fine and how easily it can get knots when casting. Had a few nightmarish tangles where I've had to put it down and substitute with the heavier barra gear. The biggest thing for me was not being able to cast the leader knot through the guides... I learned this the hard way.

Does anyone have any tips to make casting light line easier and stress free? The reel I am using is a Penn Affinity 1000, courtesy of the Shizz

hey all i think there should be another admin or 2 so that ppl (or bots) like adrienne39 are banned or removed wat do you guys think?

oh no

A man went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a secluded, rural area
of the state. After spending the night, his grandfather prepared breakfast
for him consisting of eggs and bacon. He noticed a film-like substance on
his plate and he questioned his grandfather....are these plates clean? His
grandfather replied....those plates are as clean
as cold water can get them so go on and finish your meal.

That afternoon, while eating the hamburgers his grandfather made for lunch,
he noticed tiny specks around the edge of this plate, and a substance that
looked like dried egg yolks...so he asked again....are you sure these
plates are clean? Without looking up from his hamburger, the grandfather
says.....I told you before, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get
them, now don't ask me about it anymore!

Later that afternoon, he was on his way out to get dinner in a nearby town.
As he was leaving, Grandfather's dog started to growl and would not let him
pass....Grandfather, your dog won't let me out.

Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching,
Grandfather shouted, COLDWATER, GET OUT OF THE WAY

Standing at the edge of the lake, a man saw a woman flailing about in the deep water. Unable to swim, the man screamed for help. A trout fisherman ran up. The man said, "My wife is drowning and I can't swim. Please save her. I'll give you a hundred dollars."
The fisherman dove into the water. In ten powerful strokes, he reached the woman, put his arm around her, and swam back to shore. Depositing her at the feet of the man, the fisherman said, "Okay, where's my hundred dollars?"

The man said, "Look, when I saw her going down for the third time, I thought it was my wife. But this is my mother-in-law."

The fisherman reached into his pocket and said, "Just my luck. How much do I owe you?"

A man and his newlywed check into a mountain resort by a lake. The desk clerk notices the "Just Married" sign still on the car. As soon as the man gets the luggage out of the car, he hops in a boat to go fishing.

He is out all day, comes back for a quick supper, picks up his lantern and goes back out at night. This goes on for a couple of days when the man happens to stop by the desk. The clerk starts a conversation with the man and mentions his behavior.

"I know it's none of my business, but I was wondering why you weren't having sex with your new wife."

"Oh, I couldn't do that; she has gonorrhea."

"Well, what about anal sex?"

"Couldn't do that; she has diarrhea."

"There is always oral sex."

"Nope, she has pyorrhea."

"Wait a second. If she has gonorrhea, diarrhea, and pyorrhea, why did you marry her?"

"That's easy. She also has worms, and I love to fish!"

NOR v SOR Swan Fish Location??????

OK Guys, we have had a couple of suggestions for the Swan fish section of the NOR v SOR comp. Whilst we are still working out how we will run the fishing comp part of things, the main idea is for it to be an opportunity for the shore based guys to join in and meet a few of the boaties and for us all to have a chance to catch up for a beer and a bbq. (Perhaps a belated 2nd birthday celebration for fishwrecked)

So the question is.........

Where should we do it? Burswood/South Perth/Rivervale??????

Give us some ideas as to where we can fish and gather for a bbq.

The champion angler trophy will be engraved and presented on the day and we will hopefully put on a few beverages etc with some of the left over prize money from the NOR comp and still have enough for some prizes on the day for the shore based guys. I am thinking $5 per angler to fish in the shore based comp (to make sure we have some prize money to give out) but we will make it totally catch and release (but nothing stopping you taking home a feed if that is what you want to do) and totally land based. Spouses and children welcome (need someone to drive you home after a skin full)

Give us your thoughts.

Alltackle.com?

WHALE CARCASS AT HILLARYS

So... my mate just called me and reckons he just heard on the radio that a whale carcass has washed up somewhere near hillarys marina and that due to the really squally winds and weather,  authorities havnt had the chance to remove it yet...

His thoughts are, "Would this berley up the water? is it worth throwing a line out?"

So I said id put it up on here too... whats the general concencus when theres a carcass in the water regarding fishing conditions?

Finally a Bream!

Called up MetallicSharky this morning and tried to suss out where he was going, he said he was going out on a boat with his mate...

anyway 10 mins later i got a msg saying plans had changed cos they lost the keys to the boat and he was just going down to this island in the river

So I went to tee up to meet with him and his mate and I got to ashfield and like, they were nowhere to be found... rang him up and the phone cut out mid conversation and then his phone must have gone out of range or something so I thought the bastids had ditched me! So I texted him and he said they were just ducking out to get more bait.. i thought it was all bullcrap so I just stayed and fished by myself....

Chucked an unweighted jellybean styled prawn out and within seconds of it drifting to the bottom, I was hooked up.... bream ran for a snag, i tightened my drag (because it was 10lb line due to my rack raider snapping on the weekend i was using my daiwa cy and tierra with just a light 6lb flurocarbon leader) and yeah then it started to go the opposite direction for a tree stump then I pulled it in....

FINALLY, IVE LANDED A FISH IN 2 WEEKS OF RIVER FISHING TRYING TO GET THE BASTIDS!

Was a very clean approx 23cm bream.... very silver in colour? Thort that was strange...

Anyway, pulled 2 more tiny buggers in, like fishtank material and this boat rocks up... guess who!

Metallicsharky! hahah found his keys... so much for the fish though, I think thier boat engine spooked them...

I had a few more big tugs but didnt manage to land them and that was it for the day...

but im still happy, thanks sharky for sharing the spot... :) Much appreciated!
