bait collecting last night
Submitted by luke george on Sat, 2007-07-07 12:32Had a great time getting bait last night started just fishing the side of some jettys in the sound from the boat at about 4pm burleyed for herring and got plenty. As it started to get dark pulled in a horse of of leatherjacket at 38cm next cast an even bigger on at 45cm. Then dropped a squid jig in ended up with 13 squid in about 30 mins biggest was 1.2kg. Then and even bigger leatherjacket folowed a little squid up and bit onto the back of the squid and took a little chuck out of it. After all that the night fishing was useless didnt even get a bite but after the bait collecting didnt really care.
Btw did anyone do any good last night was pretty good weather for it

SINKER MOULD TO 1.5KG
Submitted by VAGABOND on Fri, 2007-07-06 19:32sinker moulds you could make one like this. I've used this style for many years
and it works a treat. Easy to use just fill to the size you want and knock it out.
Because it is on a handle no more burnt fingers?
I fill to the top to make winch sinkers about 1.5kg but you can fill about 3 quaters
to make your 32 ounce. I still use a 32 ounce snapper sinker mould for the rods
but you can just fill to what ever size you want.
You have to Drill hole for the line, I drill half way through then turn round and drill
through the other side to stop the drill bit binding up.
Easy to make out of scrap steel.
There is a photo on Fish Wrecked Photos, Couldn't work out how to attach to post.

Needing a website to obtain fish type photos..
Submitted by Under the Hammer on Fri, 2007-07-06 04:19Hi All,
Next Wednesday I'm getting dressed up in my scuba gear for my three year old daughter's play group class and I was hoping to get some colour photos of what fish look like under water-trying to make the demo a little interesting and of course keeping 3 year olds entertained is another thing!! I'm hoping to pass them around the group whilst the demonstration is on..
Can anyone direct me to an appropriate site where I maybe able access these images and download them please?
Would be greatly appreciated & thanks in advance,
T.

One of my favourite reels was the SHIMANO BANTUM 500 and caught some big Pinkies in South Oz (Tapely Shoals). Well my old Man doesn't know that. What's yours and what fish did you catch with it?

Drifting.....help!
Submitted by billy chase on Tue, 2007-07-03 17:48Im a bit unsure of what to do when drifting. I thought you use enough lead to keep the bait down on the bottom, but not too heavy to hold the ground. Last time I went fishing we decided to drift and i was told to put more lead on to hold the bottom.
It might sound like a silly question, but doesnt this defeat the purpose of drifting? I thought you would want your bait covering more area whilst drifting? Could anyone tell me the advantages to having enough wait to hold the bottom while drifting?
thanks Heaps.

Frustrations!
Submitted by rickets on Sun, 2007-07-01 10:08Surely, I know there is a similar thread in here asking for stories about people's worst fishing trips...
But its the worst which make good stories... what is more annoying is the pissy little times when you go out and things just go wrong the whole time you're out there, whether on the boat or landbased...
From tangles to knots in places where they arnt meant to be and then snags and wrong bait, to loosing too much line, getting spooled...
arghhh the list goes on.. surely, im not the only one who has bad days... or maybe im just useless and every time I go fishing I spend more time fixing shit than actually fishing. It's starting to really annoy me....
Like seriously, I have a Daiwa CY 2500 which has Nitlon 10lb braid and all it ever wants to flippin do is tangle and knot up....
You dont even have to be rough or try very hard, the thing just tangles and knots up forcing you to snip it, even when you are casting normally....
Maybe I should try some sort of different braid. Fireline has never done this sorta crap. But really, this sorta crap is just enough to annoy you to state that today, was a bad fishing day for me.

The Bear
Submitted by dogsoldier on Sat, 2007-06-30 20:58A bear was chasing a little rabbit.
"Stop running and get back here!" yelled the bear.
"Never!" shouted the rabbit.
As the rabbit was running he tripped on a lamp. His soft furry foot brushed the lamp and out popped a genie.
The genie noticed the frightened rabbit was being chased by the bear.
The genie said to the bear,"Hey! If you stop chasing him I'll grant you and the rabbit both two wishes!"
The bear agreed and was so eager he jumped to go first. He said, "I wish that a had the biggest penis in the world!"
*Poof!* and his wish was granted.
The rabbit went next, "I wish I had a super fast motorcycle!"
*Poof* and the rabbit's wish was granted.
The bear looked at the rabbit and thought, "What a lame wish!"
For his final wish, the bear smirked as he wished that all the other bears in the world were female.
*Poof* his wish was granted.
The rabbit jumped on his motorcycle, revved the engine and laughed.
Just before he booked out of there he said, "I wish the bear was gay!"

Woodman Point!!
Submitted by jangles on Sat, 2007-06-30 18:50Gday all,
Hows everyone coping with fishing these days? I'm heading for some land base fishing and I have'nt been to Woodman Point lately and just hoping to see if anyone has been catching any fish lately out that way? I'm hoping to land some Herring and Garfish but it can be unexpected by me. So I was just wondering if anyone has caught any fish from that platform?
Thanks guys...
Cheers....
