New improvised Swan River SP rig
Submitted by Joodles on Mon, 2013-01-14 09:15Check out this bunky I pulled off a snag whilst wading the Swan...
looks like 30lb braid straight through, a few swivels and clips, a lump of a lead and Gulp grub on the end
I can just picture old mate down at his local tackle store going "nah mate, plastics just aren't working for me'!

Anyone wanna take me and a mate offshore?
Submitted by Felix on Mon, 2013-01-14 08:55Hello all.
Decided our boat is a little small for going where we want to fish. So before I bite the bullet and buy a bigger boat, id like to go out a couple of times wite others to see how other boats handle and if I actually like fishing the deeper stuff over here (i'm from NSW).
So question is, will anyone take me and one other bloke out jigging, drift baiting? We are happy to pay our share (or even a bit more).
Cheers
Felix

New overhead outfit
Submitted by hibbo on Sun, 2013-01-13 20:29I'm looking to get a new smaller more lightweight overhead outfit for bottom bouncing and deep water jigging. Currently using a Shimano tyrnos 20 with a 15kg tyrnos rod it goes well but it's too bulky.

demersal jigging/plastics set up?
Submitted by mcgoo on Sun, 2013-01-13 10:28Just wondering what combo's people are using for demersal plastics fishing and jigging?
Im heading out on a charter tomorrow morning from Hillarys and im wondering if I should go grab a few plastics and jigs and take my own rod with me.. But im not sure if I will be a bit under gunned..
The combo I was thinking about taking is a Shimano Jewel 762 snapper 5-8kg rod with Penn spinfisher 460 loaded with 20lb braid..
Your thoughts? Let me know if this is ridiculous...

Catch care
Submitted by JCM on Sun, 2013-01-13 08:26Wondering how the majority of boat fishers care for their catch.
Ive been fishing out wide, where the skipper does not store his fish on ice, nor are they killed, bled or gutted. They are simply thrown straight off the hook, still flapping into an under floor compartment with a couple of buckets of sea water, the water is pumped out & replaced once or twice during the day. The skipper argues that good clean cold sea water is good enough. I'm talking prime deep sea fish, being out dawn till after midday.
Appreciate any comments

Dams & Lakes for boating
Submitted by jdavies_99 on Sun, 2013-01-13 01:55Hi guys,
Trying to find some new places to do a bit of boating and camping.
Looking for any Dams, Lakes or Rivers around the Perth area (or within a 4 hour drive) which allow boating. I know of Waroona dam, Logue Brook dam, Swan River (Obviously). I remember as a kid going boating on Lake Indoon but from when I saw that last you could practically walk across it. Another one we used to enjoy was Lake Jaspar down south but they have cut access to it by closing the bridge.
On google I notice there is Wellington dam and Serpentine River but I am not sure if these are accessible?
Any other nice areas that anyone can reccomend?

Cheers Oceanside
Submitted by flangies on Sat, 2013-01-12 16:49I went in to say g'day and take a look at all these vexed jigs, walked out with a crap load of shore-jigging ammo for cobia next week and a JM Ball knob. It's very hard to put a budget on hand dances, a fat pitch and some wood boogers. I know I'll lose all of them to sharks so a few dollars saved here and there softens the blow.

Star drag reel
Submitted by fisharoo on Sat, 2013-01-12 10:05Hi fellas, recently going back to overhead reels. Pulled my old saltiga 30 out of the cupboard, stripped off the 20lb mono and put new 50 lb braid on it. However the reel claimed 10kg drag, I fully locked up the adjustable tension screw then backed it off a mm so i can still turn the handle without too much force, fully locked up the star drag and I reckon I am getting no where close to 10 kg.
On my Stella 8000, I can't pull line off at 10 kgs. Anyway my question is, when u guys fish with star drag reels is it ok to fish it with the star drag turned to the max all the time? When I back it off a notch it loses heaps of drag.
Thanks guys

New " Vexed " Demersal Jigs - 3 Days ONLY Special so get in Quick.
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Fri, 2013-01-11 18:04There's no doubt that demersal jigging is very popular and something we have been doing for many years. The buzz when catching quality reef fish on jigs is awesome and we are always on the hunt for more styles of jigs.
We stock from the cheap demersal jigs all the way through to the upmarket Lamble & Fisherman jigs etc. These " New Vexed jigs " are awesome and to the many keen jiggers out there they will recongnise most of these models. The paint work and finish is very good and at these great prices very very affordable.
Myself and Ryan have been testing them for the importer and they not only swim well they catch fish. Being so well priced they dont hit the hip pocket and after having them on display for a short time today our regulars and FW members have already gone crazy on them.
We purchased a shit load of them in all sizes and popular colours BUT some of our customers and FW members today were taking 10 at a time so get in quick.
** We have in stock over 1100 plus demersal jigs, assorted brands, assorted styles and different weights **
