Cricket
Submitted by twicther on Sat, 2013-01-19 22:14Wondering how many Brisbane Heat supporters are on the forum ? I guess i am a minority, bad luck for some ! Good contest some one had to win, and the good guys wear teal ( not good ) anyway spent the night watching with plenty of Wa supporters . Got to cheer about something ! Our blokes aren't doing much.

Mulloway to be restocked
Submitted by Justo82 on Sat, 2013-01-19 11:38Saw a newspaper article relating to restocking the swans supply of mulloway. It's a $280,000 project, mainly started due to a decline in recreational catches. It says they will breed 30,000 of them in Fremantle, then release into the waterways. Announced by fisheries Minister Norman Moore.
Great news for rec anglers. So prawns, mullas, what next? Giant herring programme?

Offshore setup for the missus...
Submitted by Braxi on Fri, 2013-01-18 23:04G'day, Thanks to all your comments and suggestions for a creek setup for the wife. I ended up getting her a Shimano Thunnus 4000CI on a 5-8kg Ian Miller Barra Spin. She absolutely loves it. And so do I when shes at work.... That bring the next question. Now she has seen how light a setup can be with such good results, shes keen to get a new offshore setup. We already have some good sized overheads for the bigger stuff but for some bottom fishing offshore around the Pilbara I was thinking of a Stella 8000SW or 10000SW. Not too sure on a rod to match it to. I have a Jigging Master Ocean Devil with a Talica 10 for myself and absolutely love the JM so was thinking the same only in the spin. Great little rod with heaps of power and super light. Any suggestions on a suitable reel and/or rod to match would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Another Black Hole
Submitted by Bunny on Fri, 2013-01-18 17:45My brother built this one for his missus with only a very small help from me. He's caught the bug too and is already outdoing me.
Once he got past the foregrip winding check he decided on "less is better" even going to a relatively plain black underbind with a tiny amount of silver after the first Stripper guide.
I had my doubts but it has come up awesome and has given me ideas for future builds.
The red theme was originally intended for a Saltist Hyper speed but the Penn Torque that's on it fits great!! Also really like the Alps trigger seat although they are pretty pricy.
This was the rod that accounted for that 25lb Catty Erica caught the other night. Not the best fish to Christen a rod with in terms of quality but anyone who has caught one knows they go pretty hard.
By the way they are water droplets off the grass, not Epoxy runs!!

Peppermint Grove Beach reports?
Submitted by Wet Dreams on Fri, 2013-01-18 10:22Hi All,
Heading down to Peppermint Grove Beach (Capel) tomorrow for 2weeks and just wanted to know how its been fishing lately? Any tailor getting by and bream up the river?
Will be taking the surf rod for the big ones, 9ft for chucking lures at tailor and the bream setup to hopefully chase some. Any info on how its been fishing or hints on possible spots would be greatly appreciated. Also is the beach still open to 4x4 access?
Cheers Sam.

Herring vs The Mighty Tommy Ruff
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2013-01-18 00:03After seeing Ozzy`s Shark he caught in Victoria posted I thought I`d share a pic of a Tommy Ruff I caught in SA.
The Western Australian folk are proud Herring people however surely this picture proves a Tommy is infact a far superior sporting and table species.
Taken on my Abu 7000 in my 11 ft tinny.

Opinions on Fly Combo
Submitted by Leemo on Thu, 2013-01-17 22:26G'day guys.
I'm sort of in the market for a 7-9wt Fly combo to use when I go up north for a bit of something different.
Ideally, I would like to spend under $500 for the complete setup - backing, line etc etc.
Any suggestions?
