Dunsborough Fishing Spots
Submitted by Matt_020 on Fri, 2012-07-06 11:10Hey Guys,
Got a good mate that is heading down to Dunsborough next week with the family and is hoping to get out and do a bit of fishing. As I do most of my fishing north was just wondering if anyone would be keen to share a couple of spots they might have down that way or even any good areas to do a bit of exploring. As he will be with family just thought any help you can offer can save him the little time he might get to spend on the water.
Please PM me if you dont want to share publically....we dont head down that way very often so dont worry about us raping your spots :)

Whos heading out tomorrow?
Submitted by BigClarky on Fri, 2012-07-06 09:55Good Morning Everyone!
just thought I would post a thread about tomorrow's fishing plans. Weather is shaping up quite good.
I am heading out from two rocks with my old man, motoring out about 30-40nm NW. Hitting some solid ground I sounded out last trip.
What is everyone else planning?

Tailor bag limit
Submitted by spook on Fri, 2012-07-06 09:12I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on being able to take 8 tailor. They don't freeze well and need to be eaten quite soon or they go a bit mushy. 2 over 40cm and 1 over 50 has to be enough as they are available fresh off the beach near to most people. We are having a good run lately and it would be nice to keep the stocks right up so its like this all the time.

Exmouth in september
Submitted by baron 88 on Thu, 2012-07-05 20:27Myself and a few mates are planning on towing a boat up north for a couple of weeks fishing in mid September. Exmouth is looking to be the most probable place at the moment but just wondering if it's worth going that far that time of year or does it start to blow a bit. Would somewhere closer to Perth be a safer bet weather wise and still reasonable fishing
Thanks

Fish ID Please
Submitted by Luke R on Thu, 2012-07-05 15:11Hey guys i was fishing off my boat the other day out off rotto using my trusty peeled river prawns as bait and hooked something big!!
After a epic 12 minute battle I landed this strange looking fish, I was worried about nasty spikes so I wore my cotton driving gloves for protection.
It was caught on my bream rod/reel combo on 4 lb line.
I cooked it up in my mums favourite beer batter mix with chips, salad and it was very tasty with a apple martini
Can anyone tell me what species this is cheers

Midwest Magic 23/06/12
Submitted by westaus_ryan on Thu, 2012-07-05 09:51
The stage was set by a long awaited forecast of light winds and low swell, so myself and four mates were left with no choice but to load up the cars and hit the road up to the midwest coast.
We fished from shore first thing Saturday morning. I caught nothing but Earth, but two mates landed 2 very solid tailor each, followed by one nice Mulloway.
By mid morning the freezing water and ice cold wind had turned our fingers and toes into steel pegs, and the experience was becoming unenjoyable. So having unwillingly donated several rigs to the reef and with no fish to call my own, i was more than happy to call it a morning.
After a snooze, a feed and a general recharge we started talking some pump about the prospects of an arvo/evening fish out in the blue. We quickly agreed on a location, and with morale at a weekend high we hit the road again.
The yaks were finally in the water. I knew of good fish that had been caught around this area, and i knew roughly what the depth was. So equipped with this knowledge and with one eye on the sounder, i paddled around for a while until i rolled over what i thought looked like some really nice ground. I anchored up, burleyed up, and dropped the placcie to the bottom. I mixed it all up bit, using a few different techniques i have been reading about using soft plastics.
No later than half an hour from anchoring, I felt a touch. Deep breath....clicked it over, set the hook, ON!! Seriously on. After an epic little battle i nursed my first ever Dhui to the side of the yak and netted him at once. Morale was at a new weekend high.

Adventure Sports and The 1 Armed Bandit
Submitted by Brucesta on Thu, 2012-07-05 09:25Well Adam Ambroziak has been busted for depositing cash from the business into a personal account to escape declaring it as income and has now had 7 million in assets seized as a result of charges laid by the federal police along with unlicended firearms and a silencer as well.
Can anyone answer the question if his doors are shut, i'm guessing they are which is shit as i have $250 bucks worth of vouchers to spend there but has no doubt put a few fishing and sporting clubs in a pickle with any sponsership he was/is giving so can anyone fill us in if the stores are still in operation?
This is twice now a local tackle store has unexpectantly shut on me while i've been in posession of gift vouchers for them.
I won't get into a shit slinging match about his behaviour but they don't call him the 1 armed bandit for nothing, has had issues before with the law and it seems he could be in for a world of hurt now. bets on how long it takes BCF to move in? they have been trying to buy him out for a while but he asked way too much...

Lesson Learned /crabbing
Submitted by Zoggy84 on Thu, 2012-07-05 02:05Few of us decided to head out to Mosman bay jetty to try our luck in some Crabbin and some small fishing. within 45min of being there 2 fisherie officers came down to have a look at our catch and gear we were within our limits as we only had the 5 crabs between 3 ppl, Only down fall was a net i used for bait fish (gobble guts) i found was illegal to use. Now the positive thing about it all was that i recieved no fine (as of yet) and they said because i was honest straite up that it was mine, quite happy to hand my details over and even slash the net up. I did have to ask tho if the Bait cage is Illegal to use why to stores sell them? Confused the hell out of me. but we didnt let it ruin our night and we walked away with 7 decent sized Blueys, 1 being enough for me measured in at almost 19cm point to point definatly my largest i have caught.
