Fibreglass Hardtop
Submitted by Commodore Marine on Fri, 2010-11-19 10:59High guys, we have got a Fibreglass hardtop that we do not require that would suit a boat 23 foot and above, All you would need to do is construct the uprights or barwork for it, $850. It is a slight larger version of the one we put on our 670.

Best boat ramp to use to head across to rotto
Submitted by Aaron Santos on Thu, 2010-11-18 14:34
Hi all,
Im pretty new on this forum, and actually pretty new to perth. I moved up about 5 months ago from bunbury.
Im heading across to Rottnest in a couple of weeks for an over nighter on the island, was wondering what would be the best boat ramp to use and probably the closest so its less travel across to the island. I live North of the river.
Also is it safe to leave the car over night.
Cheers all advise appreciated.

Who's running a computer program for their sounder/GPS backing up?
Submitted by Lucky Tim on Thu, 2010-11-18 09:26Hey all,
Is anyone running a program on their computer for viewing/saving waypoints, sounder shots, etc, particularly for thier Lowrance? I downloaded the free Lowrance Sonar Viewer but I think it should have been left in the '80's where it belongs.
What are you running, where did you get it from, how much $$$ and is it worth it?
Cheers
Tim

Electronic rust protection
Submitted by A-SALT-WEAPON on Mon, 2010-11-15 18:22Hi all
Im looking at putting one of those electronic rust protectors on my boat trailer.
Im wondering has anybody else done this and if so is it a good idea.
I can see a few little problems like running wiring through the trailer as there's between 4 to 8 anodes , running it from the boat battery it will draw 32mil amps so have to keep battery charged
you will have to remember to disconnect.
My trailer is showing some signs of rust and its nearly $6000 to replace new and for $160 i can try this.
IS IT A GOOD IDEA?

Power loss 75 merc
Submitted by Gibbsy on Sun, 2010-11-14 04:48Any ideas I am losing power for long periods when heading home from a day out fishing. feels to me like an air/fuel issue flat out the motor is only pulling 3100rpm which is down from around 6500rpm I am also using a huge amount of oil as it is an 05 oil injected motor have had to fill resevoir up after only 30 mile. fuel lines have all been checked for any leaks as well as obstructions to air flow fuel has been fresh both times this has happened and inbetween this happening I have done a 50 mile trip with no problems.
any ideas

Electric trailer winches
Submitted by Frank F on Wed, 2010-11-10 17:46Well I have now decided to join the Cockburn power boat club again since all the recent break ins. I do a lot of early morning and night fishing and come to the conclusion that it will be cheaper to buy a electric winch than to replace a window every few months.
I didn't renew this year because of the no drive on drive off rule that they introduced. To me it was the principle of the matter, my boat weighs 2.8 tonnes and the trailer is designed to drive on and off, which is a lot quicker than winching. They came up with a story that the ramp is getting wrecked by prop wash and that it is a safety issue as well.
So I am interested in the experience that people have had good or bad and what people recommend in the way of electric trailer winches. I have been looking at the power winch and the super winch. It all get a bit confusing because they talk about single line pull, but I have noticed that it is different to the maximum boat weight. They also talk about the incline of the ramp.
So if anyone can enlighten me on the whole winch thing it will be much appreciated.

Baron Fuel tank
Submitted by iana on Sat, 2010-11-06 06:36I have a Baron fuel tank thats going to be chucked out. Rubbish pick up starting Monday. Alluminium, 90 lt, below deck. Has pitting in the bottom, but could be repaired. I replaced the tank with a stainless one, too much frigging about to get it welded, purge certificates etc.
Hasn't had fuel in it for two years, so should be well and truely purged now. Your mate !! should be able to fix it. Free to good home.

nautiglass 15ft - advice to buy?
Submitted by Hansie on Fri, 2010-10-29 12:11gday guys
please can anyone share their thoughts on the nautiglass 15ft half cab.
i have the opportunity to purchase one from a mate
not sure of exact age but probably 80s hull
approx 2002 Evinrude 70hp 4 strk (this is a suzuki motor right?)with about 400hrs, 320 of which by my mate in the last 1.5years.
has a lowrance split system with colour sounder - don't know the model but it sounds at 20knots.
other bits and bobs all straight forward.
any advice on what to ask/check/ensure or what would be a fair price - its always difficult to set a price between mates.
ps: i am aware of ALL the old cliches about buying gear off mates. i have been on this boat heaps and know it well, i have a solid honest mate and i reckon this is a positive all things considered.
cheers for any experience you can share.

transom saver bars
Submitted by scotto on Sat, 2010-10-23 16:56just tryin to get some info about trailering with the new motor.
my old johnson had the little latch for keeping the engine up whilst travelling, without putting all the pressure on the rams. it worked a treat. trim all the way up, flick the latch over, and trim down until it engages.
when i got the new suzuki put on, the guy told me just to keep it as low as possible (without hittin the ground) when trailering, but the manual also suggests using a "transom saver bar" (an adjustable bar that rests on your trailer, and cradles your motor leg, for support), for rough roads or extended trips. it does have a latch, but it doesnt actually work (brand new motor too).
what i need to know is, how much damage can be done to the motor/rams, from trailering with the motor up? who uses transom saver bars? who has done damage, and what was it?
cheers

Can Anyone recommend
Submitted by mejutty on Fri, 2010-10-22 10:19I have purchased a Volvo QL trim tab 300mm kit and would like to get them fitted to the boat but have the following things that will need to be done at the same time for them to fit. The boat is a NZ ally extremeboats 665 Hardtop (current boat name in their range is 650 gameking). I need to have the transcuder mount relocated, the water intake for a deckwash (which I currenlty dont have) modified/moved and a small bar used to route the transducer cable moved. I would also like to explore the possability of mounting the tabs onto a 10mm think plate that is drilled and tapped as to avoid putting 8 extra holes into the transom.
Can anyone recommend someone who if familar with fitting the volvo ql trim tabs and can do the ally work as well??
