Recon Simmo wants nothing
Recon Simmo wants nothing more than to be let go...but that's the last thing the Eagles need, plus who wants the fill-in job to get hammered mentally for a few years before likely getting the axe himself.
So you now have a pile of players you want out...but cant as still contracted and they wont retire, plus you have a coach you really need to keep, but wants out and I recon will walk even though still contracted.
Cluster fk..

Yep it's a bloody mess and I have no idea how to fix it. Sacking the coach will only shut up the whingers for a short time and then they'll want more blood anyway. Problem runs a lot deeper than what is on the paddock each week.

Question
I have a question,
If this was happening to Fremantle, would there be the same outcry as what is going on now?
Me thinks not! The end is a long way off and sadly its all their doing in the taking of a last gasp chance at a finals finish that didn't eventuate and their fitness people not doing their job

Ha ha no there wouldn't be
Ha ha no there wouldn't be mate as they are used to their mediocrity, we're not that's why all the chardy set are jumping up and down. It's a mangement cluster f&ck pure and simple. I'll stand by them through the long haul, always have. They've had hard days before especially when incepted into the supposed AFL against a biased Victorian comp. Nesbitt should have his neck on the block first.

I don't even know what to
I don't even know what to say.... I remember how sorry I used to feel for Sydney, Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy in the 90s and that's us at the moment. I do look back to round 1-3 and we looked pretty competitive before the demolition derby and it's just been getting worse and worse since then.
All the talk this week of sacking Simmo. You just need to look across the Nullarbor to see how unsuccessful that’s been for Carlton and St Kilda but I’ll put a caveat on that….

I tend to agree Frosty,
I tend to agree Frosty, although I don't have the depth of knowledge that you and some others here do. I think the real problem is senior payers either not being fit to play or playing very badly. How much have we been getting out of Gaff, Sheed, Cole, etc. over the last few years.
Some of these kids will make it but we have a raft of guys that have had their chances and are just not up to it. Think Petruccelle, Waterman, Foley etc. They may come good but I doubt it from what we've seen. I think the next wave of players will deliver more talent than that lot. Time will tell.
I haven't been on the changing coach bandwagon, and I'm still not unless a decent replacement is available. No point paying out a shitload on Simmo's contract plus the soft cap penalties to the AFL if there is no-one to step into the job.

Senior players are playing
Senior players are playing for cash not the team, they know they won't win a flag in their time now so why break your balls...
Agree Jack, keep the coach ( sounds like it will cost them a fuck load to get rid of him anyway ), see out another year or two then go for a big name coach....
If they could get a bloke like woosha or even McKenna then you could move on simo but in my opinion there isn't any point.
Next year will be worse!

Apparently the big difference was there more experienced guys turned up.
So swoomper...given they show up for work on a 1 week on 4 week off roster we would need to see if it aligns with the derby...I'm sure the first few quarters will cover the gate fee for there supporters.
On that note was good to see them showing up in force...last week there was talks of boycotting games..

Was a ripper game to be at
Was a ripper game to be at (despite the loss) especially to be right where Long slotted his banana from. Thankfully a few free seats around us and the Mrs and my daughter were able to join myself my Saints supporting son and brother in law.
Elijah Hewett is starting to show a few tricks now with a couple of games in a row under his belt and having Cripps back gives us that high half forward option and a better forward line structure but geez, Darling remains out of form! Bailey Williams continues to develop nicely and our disposal in general was 100x better yesterday and I just about fainted when Gaff put his head over the ball. I can't remember who Ginbey hit up in the forward line with a bullet but it's something we've been sorely missing and makes footy seem to easy when you're doing that.

Eh Frosty, You keep banging
Eh Frosty,
You keep banging on about the Eagles and the kids theyve fgot and how they have drafted the past two years.....
Frosty I'm not sure if you have noticed but the shit teams get better draft picks ( thats if you havent traded them out )....
Enlighten me who are these young guns the Eagles have on their list??
I'll remind you again, Ginbey was their first top ten pick since Gaff.....
I'll say it again, in my opinion every club in the comp has a better ( I'm not talking about kids that make up the numbers I'm talking about future B+ or A graders that will play week in week out ) crop of kids than the Eagles do!!
The Eagles will trade away no.1 because they know Reid wont come and if he does he'll fuck off after a year or two of mediocrity!!
Keep Simo, trade their picks to get more higher end picks and target every decent WA kid in the league so after a twenty goal beating he can go home and nestle his tired little head in his mothers bosoms and weep himself to sleep....

Read your two comments below
Read your two comments below really slowwwwwwly then tell me how a team that finished in the bottom 10 once from 2010 to 2022 could have a crop of top 10 draft picks? We did finish 13th in 2013 and traded out our pick 6 for pick 11 and 2nd round pick which we ended up using to draft Sheed and Yeo which kinda won us a flag.
Frosty I'm not sure if you have noticed but the shit teams get better draft picks ( thats if you havent traded them out )....
I'll remind you again, Ginbey was their first top ten pick since Gaff....

No contradiction there mate,
No contradiction there mate, Ginbey was their first top ten since Gaff, ladder position doesn't mean you can't pick swap etc etc ( surely you know this ).....
They let Van Rooyen and Johnston go and went Chesser!!
They have been fucking woeful in the draft!!
"Contrary to popular opinion we actually have hit the draft pretty heavy in the previous two years and I expect we’ll do the same again this year and look to bring in some top end talent via trade/free agency in 2024. At the moment we are being forced into playing kids who aren't quite ready for AFL or at least not ready to carry the loads they've had to due to senior players being injured but that is no excuse for the weekend where we had Shuey, Yeo, Gaff, Kelly and Sheed all rolling through the midfield."
Thats your comment above and thats what made me question who were the decent kids ( which you didnt answer! )
It would be a drawn out excersize but I could give you 3 youngsters from EVERY team that are every bit as good and most better than the very very few the Eagles have....
Enlighten me who these top end free agents are that will come to the Eagles?? I'll tell you who, blokes that want a massive pay packet, exactly what they don't need....
I'm hearing Barrass to Sydney next year?
I think Oscar Allen could also be tempted out to a Collingwood or someone in the premiership window, lets watch this space shall we...

Both the club and West Coast
Both the club and West Coast supporters accept that we made a mess of trying to pinch another flag by hanging onto older, injury prone players are are looking forward. Bottom feeders like Caro, Cornes, Barrett et al can rejoice as much as they like in the meantime harping on about things that can't be changed. I actually take all the boot laying as a compliment and testament to our sustained success over the years.
Chesser... I wasn't convinced then and remain unconvinced as he's still a deer in the headlights at AFL level but you've singled out the one kid who hasn't had a decent run at putting a bunch of his 8 games together due to smashing his ankle and then hurting his knee.
Of the current crop of kids I think may be around long term: your mate Chesser, Long, Bazzo, Hough, Ginbey, Hewett, Culley, Williams. Maric def has a good footy smarts and skill for AFL level but still very much raw, young and skinny and only being played out of pure necessity and will benefit from an AFL pre-season. Letting Nic Martin go from right under our noses was a grave error in our list management going forward.
Most, if not all of the above I'd take before Karl Amon aka Diet Andrew Gaff.
I hear Brockman wants out of Hawks so perhaps pick 3, Brockman and DGB for pick 1 might be on the cards seeing as Hawks are supposedly bursting at the seams with young top tier talent despite being three wins above the worst team in AFL history....
I think we'll go hard at Devon Robertson for a pick somewhere in the 20's this year and see what we can do to land Georgidies and next year will target English and Baker who are yet to sign extensions. I can't see Norton being enticed but I reckon we've got one eye on McDonald as well and I wouldn't mind a crack at Ash Johnson. Whether they all want to leave is a completely different topic altogether. Barrass and Oscar are both contracted and going nowhere and I'd be happy to see what you'd be happy to put on them leaving... you don't trade away your spine (unless you're forced to) and if we take them both out of our side we can start considering 200+ point losses a given.

Bottom feeders like caro
Bottom feeders like caro cornes and Barrett?
Is that because they don't bow down to the Western Australian WC supporters bias bs....
Only 3 wins above the worst team in history, what does that even mean? WC have won 3 faves in two years, you'll be lucky to win another in the next two. Hawks have an agenda and they are sticking to it, we will certainly flail around the lower end for a couple of years before the large number of very good younger kids get games into them then hopefully it's prolonged success.
Contracts mean fuck all now, WC would look absolutely foolish if they didn't allow Barrass to leave should he want to and loses interest in AFL rolling up week in week out putting up with utter tripe.
Good luck getting free agents, be careful not to pay overs, WC need a few good news stories....
Perhaps you'd be a good front man, you seem pretty good at polishing a turd.... Xo
Oh and yep, I'm hearing same thing Brockman ( good player ) DGB ( not getting a game but will fit in well at WC for Harley Reid.... Fucking boom....
Generational player, it's a damn shame he won't be in blue n gold eh...
Fuck the Freo supporters and Pies supporters must love this shit....
I have no bone in this and until you start waffling bullshit I stick to either my general opinion from an outsider looking in or what I hear probably listening to far too much sports talk, and you my friend seem to be slowly allowing reality to creep in but for now, keep on polishing!!

Few injuries, new young players plus the existing still to develop, not replacing Darcey with another ruck man has not helped.

Won't even get decent draft
Won't even get decent draft picks as they traded out their first and second rounders to Melbourne for a bloke that can ruck a bit, go forward a bit but isn't top 15-20 in either position. Freo thought they were getting Jacques Kallis but it's looking like they've ended up with Shane Watson.

As expected, Harley Reid has told the Eagles he's not coming West.
While I don't blame him, if the Eagles want him and they select him and he knocks them back then perhaps he should be forced to wait another year and hope it's not the same club again...
You can't have the tail wagging the dog...
Probably unlikely WC would've selected him anyway as they need to pick split. I guess the question now is, does this water down pick One that at this stage the Eagles have a firm grip on?

I agree with Boon and Unc. Although WCE have been quick to deny what Reid has supposedly said, there is no point drafting a player that will almost certainly leave once you put some time and effort into him. Boon is rigtht that this waters down the value of pick one in these circumstances unless you trade the pick.

Reckon they trade it Dave, but we need a savvy selector who can spot the talent down the line. Jesus they did it so well in the late 80's early 90's.
