I'll be taking my 8y old
I'll be taking my 8y old daughter along. First year of mods for her this year after coming through Auskick and the only one that will really watch the footy with me.

My 9 yo got a ball from them
My 9 yo got a ball from them and 3/4 of the team to sign it.
Good for the kids because the players mingle after the game.

It certainly sticks with
It certainly sticks with them Paul. I used to take my daughter into the WCE rooms after games at Subi and she (now 23 yo) said she wished roaming Brian had been a thing back then! She remembers those days very clearly and she was probably 9 or 10 then.

That's exactly what you
That's exactly what you want, the grass roots stuff. Kids absolutely look up to these players as idols.
I remember when I was 5 or 6 living in Sydney and absolutely idolising Russell Fairfax, still a Roosters fan to this day.

Star struck
Was working for the Frenchman building the Bunbury Mayor's boat when Ron Barrassi, Neil Curley Polly Farmer and a few other , then top VFL footballers were shown through, shook hands with them all and didn't was the hand for days. They were over to play at the Legacy match against WA players on Hands oval in an end of season fundraiser. I was playing juniors for Carey Park at the time and about 15-16 years old, still remember the day

Bit different but in 2001 I was playing for Gin Gin and Chris Mainwaring came up to host our player sponsor night (I went for $800 after playing a blinder in the pre-season scratchy and never delivered my sponsor a single BOG lol). Mainy did his bit and then came and sat at the table with us younger fellas and sank beers with us all night and was just one of the boys and obviously at ease with the country lads. I was 20 years old and sat at the table starstruck the entire time and can’t even recall being able to speak to him.

Home
Home ground equals home crowd advantage and it showed. Brisbane will have that today and hopefully come away with the win
Extremely glad to get away with the win
