Busselton Inshore fishing with Grandsons on Board

Mrs is not keen for me to take out the boys too wide, anyone know of a couple of spots within 4 miles of the Port Geo Ramp. Fishing out of a 5.8 ali boat and don't have much knowledge of the bay area.

Sand hole

Sun, 2017-01-01 22:55

Any of the sand holes will produce whiting, skippy and the odd flatty. Anchor up, a few chook pellets soaked in fish oil and BANG! 4 mile is good too. Shouldn't have any trouble finding what line it is on,boats all over it this time of year. Burley up and you will be pleasantly surprised with want you can catch. Happy days

Don't anchor up, you'll get sick and tired of pulling the bloody thing up when the trumpeters turn up. And rest assured, they will.

East Busselton is cursed

Mon, 2017-01-02 17:53

i hate fishing East Busselton use to get quite a few kgs when I went down to visit my old man. Just seems to be full of trumps these days! Can't say I've fished the 4 mile there though so I'd go as far as you can.

Bugger off visitors

Wed, 2017-01-04 08:49

I had to cue up at the Port Geo marina to get my boat out of the water yesterday ... first time ever.

Just joking about the bugger off ... on a calm day, the 4 mile is brilliant for the kids and family (you can see the bottom, 15m down with fish swimming around the coral mushrooms). There are plenty of spots out there to find over quite a large area. I took a Perth friend and his 5 year old there a couple of months ago and his lad got to help pull in about 15 different species of fish. There were plenty of good sized skippy then, but they seem to have moved on a bit of late. Plenty of undersized Dhuies (40-49cm) which go back well in 15m of water. If you are very lucky you may find one just over the 50cm. Plenty of big harmless fish like the Port Jacksons, shovel nose and fiddlers and the odd Sambo too.

As Dale said, in closer you will get smashed by the trumpeters.
