Cockburn sound crab ban.
Submitted by Rodrat on Tue, 2010-04-06 14:31
Hi
According to the Fisheries website the sound is now closed for crabbing as of end of March.
On Monday 5th April while squdding i saw at least 5 boats putting out and pulling in crab nets.
Is this people not knowing about the ban or is the ban on or not?
Cheers

There is a ban on
Cockburn Sound – closed season, 1 April to 14 December
Cockburn Sound is closed to all crab fishing during this period.

in the sound
or north of woodies? I've seen many north of woodies still crabbing, but that is outside the banned zone. I haven't seen any in the heart of the sound or around mangles crabbing to be honest.
