Coral trout colour change

I was taking some photos of a trout just off the beach in the bay at coral bay.I noticed it was changing colour as it changed its surroundings. When it was over weed it would go blotchy and look completely different.I did not get any decent pics of it when really blotchy but these pics still show the difference

Absolutely change colour.  They show fright colours and excitement as well.  When I used to work in aquaculture we were trying to breed coral trout, when it came to feed time in our big tank the male would dominate and change colours and all the females would wait until he fed.

I haven't put the good video on youtube, but here's me feeding one of our runt tanks when they were all turned on:

Here ya go, this is one of the females we had that we were giving a fresh water bath to, to get the parasites off her.  Can see the fright colours and how they can change when they feel like it.

True! When I started spearing I was looking at what I thought was a cod after looking at for a minute it swam off and I realised it was a trout my mate shot it and it was a 73cm trout. Blue bone do the same thing
