Crays in Perth.

Im looking to get into some Crays this season just looking for a couple of pointers. I will mostly be free diving and have heard people do okay in 5-7m of water off hillarys and areas like that when there in close. This true? Also are there Crays in close all season with more at certain times or are they all in at the same time and all out deep at the same time?
No heros thanks just looking for pointers not exact locations or anything like that.
Cheers

At the moment...
...most of the inside stuff is few and far between. Did hear of some bag limits off White Hills, near the beach, but it was reds.
Wait until after the full moon on Sunday, the whites will harden up and my guess is that they will fire from mid to late next week. If you have any particular near shore reefs in mind, they will be a goer then.

Just dont dive on pros pots
Just dont dive on pros pots or ill winch the pot with your hand in it. From hillarys any of the shallow reefs where theres abit of sand will have crays but at the moment they will be deep in the ledges.

Hey D Doush...
...are you guys allowed to work weekends this year? I thought you would be but the lady I talked to at Fisheries last week said no...would've thought that since you're fishing to quotas now it wouldn't matter what days you went out?

Looking for sand
If looking for shallow water spots,
I always look for sand leading up to under cut reef ledges for crays, much easier to loop the cray especially if limited time on free dive, rocky cracks through out the reefs can usually provide to much area for a cray to hide or back into.
I go out and sound around sand patches look for ledges that are protected from the swell ie. the swell/surge rolls over as opposed to rolls into. as only rarely you will find a cray under a ledge that is all stirred up

yep probably 2-3 weeks off
yep probably 2-3 weeks off the crays hardening up and porbably starting to move.
By the sounds of it, alot of females with eggs in the deeper stuff.
My pots will go in weekend after next(going to Karratha chasing some reds this weekend!!!!)
Will be the latest start for me in the last 3 years.
