Love my saltiga surf 6000 one of the only reels i own that i would replace instantly if it disappeared. As for line around 300m of 15kg mono or 500-550m of 50lb braid

the best heavy surf rod
The best heavy surf rod on the market. rated well over whats written on it. I bought mine for that sort of fishing ie big baits and sinkers this rod has serious balls. I run 30lb mono through mine just for strength/casting balance but 50-80lb would be no problem
for mulloway fishing maybe you should think about a reel like the shimano Big Baitrunner with a long cast spool. with the baitrunner feature it might me more suited to set baits if thats what you want to do.

saltigax stick with the saltiga surf reel awesome casting matches the rod perfectly. 30lb-40lb braid perfect for catching mulloway. check the rod in action on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydj5xnavRV8 he is using the exact outfit.

saltiga
I reckon the saltiga surf rod with matching reel spooled with braid would cast a mile.
For me I use 30lb mono and cast a 6 oz lead with usually a whole herring, scaly etc when casting like this if i rip it too hard I will more than likely snap off.
I like to set this rig up with a running sinker on my mainline so a fish can pick the bait up and run along way without weight which is the reason I like the baitrunner reel.
I am definately not a mulloway guru but thats the way I like to fish for them and will catch anything on that rig. so it really depends how you want to setup. If casting distance to reach a gutter a long way out then I would use a different style rig for max casting distance.
The Saltiga surf is a nice reel but there are cheaper options to look at if you dont want to spend the money like the Daiwa windcast X & Z, Big baitrunner and the old trusty emblem pro all with longcast spools.
