Esperence - Land based Fishing - Any Advise ?

Hi All
Myself and a mate are heading to Esperence in October for a few days landbased fishing - We have never fished the southern ocean before so am looking for some pionters.
We have a very capable 4WD and good quality beach gear - looking for some good fishing spots to try.
Any advise welcome.
Cheers

Usually quite a few whiting
Usually quite a few whiting around.
The usual, find some good gutters you're a good chance of a mulla, might be a few salmon around. As for specific spots, I lived in Hopetoun for a couple years but didn't so much fishing in Esperance, mainly squidding off the jetty (heaps there).
Good luck and hope you get into a few good fish.

Google earth
Mate I always use google earth to find likely looking spots and get in from there. Check swell and wind directions before heading out and adjust plans accordingly. Most locals will help you when you ask about specific locations rather than for their spots. Good luck and remember the stinker skippy in the gutters down that way

Try Roses beach, 30kms west
Try Roses beach, 30kms west of town...plenty of salmon schools there yesterday when I was there...heads all over the beach from Saturday night fishos. There was some great looking gutters there.
Fish late arvo and into the night for skippy, mulloway gummies and bronzies. Mulies and hezza fillets are the go.

My experience is the best
My experience is the best fishing is east of town. It's worth the drive to places like Thomas river. Poison creek. These spots are an hour or so drive. Otherwise in town try salmon beach. Lots of squid off the jetty at night

Yep Poison, Thomas,
Yep Poison, Thomas, Kennedies, Israelite are all great beaches...just wasn't sure if he wanted to go that far. A lot of people baulk at driving 700+kms from Perth then keep driving another 150kms east.
But its definitely worth the drive.
Beaches out East are always a lot harder too....Roses is possibly the softest beach is Esperance.

Poison Creek
Some of my best fishing down Esperance way was at Poison Creek. Others closer to town are Salmon Beach, 10 Mile Beach (watch out for nudists) and Roses.
