Go pro underwater tow cams.

Im looking at making a tow cam to film underwater.

Has anyone made a good camera mount that doesnt spin and stays reasonably level.?

Wont be towing fast just drifting through some fishing ground.

Cheers

Not much help,  but I saw one that look like a miniture square shark with fins to keep it stable. the other option may be a down rigger with a go pro mounted on the fin of the weight?

search "gopro mount for down rigger" check out the images

cheers

Try this

Eddy from Peak Sportfishing had made a contraption out of a piece of 100/150 mm PVC tubing. had a nose cone on the front with a shitload of ballast ( lead ) up the front. Camera sat in the tube so when towed along you didn't get any interference bubbles etc etc. give that a go cheep n easy . If it doesn't work turn it into a berley bomb... Two uses from one machine!

Shoulda seen the footage he was getting while doing that up at abrolhos, he was screaming at us telling us to lift our game and catch all the fish he was filming. Bloody awesome watching back fish chasing down your jig

Google it, I saw something

Google it, I saw something like the home-made one mentioned by Silverfox, they reckoned it worked well. It might have been on the Gopro forum, shouldn't be hard to find. It looked quite rugged and cost stuff-all to make.
They reckon the worst thing about towing a cam like that is seeing the number of fish that investigate the trolled lure/bait, then turn away...everyone has their old "tried and true" they swear by, could be quite an eye opener.
I'd give it a go if I had a spare gopro.

Here is one I made through

Sun, 2015-02-15 18:17

Here is one I made through the week if you are interested. I am yet to try it in the ocean but it sits level in my spa and I have made it positively buoyant so the camera wont hit the bottom if I let too much line out

looks like the go

Reckon it will it get under the worst of the wake? I'd have a little security cord inside, anchoring the camera to the housing, "just in case"
