Shredded WA Pilchard - Shore Catch
With the successful 100kg of fish frames bench test of the shredder earlier in the week, it was time to see how it went in shredding a 20kg solid frozen block of mulies. As expected, it did a fine job and we now have 40kg of shred available.
The decision to provide shredded fish was following the positive comments from FW members about the suggestion in a previous post. I talked then about cubed mulies but the work involved in that was significant and with the shredder now operational, shredding the fish seemed a logical way to go. I was very happy with the finished product that is suitable for multiple uses such a burley pots, raw feed to throw into the water and an important additive to any homemade burley. We vacuum seal the shred so it is a long lasting product that is properly preserved.
The initial packaging for the shred is 1kg, 2.5kg and 5kg lots with the price initial being $6, $12.50 and $25 respectively. Images of the products are below.
The first batch is a trial and what we stock in the future will depend on feedback. Other shredded products could be tuna and/or mixed fish and I would be interested in any comments on this.
We will give this first 40kg a crack, and subject to demand will order more mulie seconds for processing.
Note: Only 30kg left now as customers came in this afternoon and wanted it when I showed them.

The devils brew?
Looks like evil in a bag to me mate , that would go off.
Only thing I think you could add to it would be 5% cray , prawn or crab bits , now that would even
give bills fat bag a run! ( the shells prob puncture the bag but)
Whats bills fat bag you ask ? , its from a story I read ages ago about a guy that kept a ongoing
burley mix going under his beach house for years, slowly adding roadkill , fish bits , party scraps , whatever
till his mates recon you could hear it hissing!!
You near enough had to be suited up for radioactive interaction to scoop the bubbling demon brew up ,
but boy did it bring the fish in!. ( and stomaches up too i bet)
Well done , your always thinking mate , a true fisherman.

Just a thought, with it
Just a thought, with it being salmon season maybe a good way to make use of the salmon as burley as maybe a cheaper option to pilchards?
