Bait cast good quality mulies
Bait cast good quality mulies on a 3 gang with a trebble on the last hook and slowly retrieve it. I pin the trebble to the tail instead of it hanging, every tailor is generally caught on the trebble. Otherwise lures such as the Storm chug bug, bomber, and halco gold twisty 25gram work mint if they are around. Youll have the most success trolling lures up and down the coast 100m or so from the shore if you had a boat, gotta find the fish, rather than sit and wait for them to show up. Iv hooked into tailor late in the morn around 10 that were feeding on bait fish caught in a rip, every troll produced hook ups on every rod for an hour and a half, it was a lure test session.
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

the treble does a lot of
the treble does a lot of damage to the fish tim, and its a bitch to get out quite often. hence, i dont use trebles. an alternative is to attach a 4th single hook, slightly smaller than the other ones.

Whiting
I've used live sand whiting quite a few times and never come away without a tailor. One hook behind the head but keeping it alive. Cast it out on a star sinker with about a metre or so of line to swim around on. Can't go wrong.
