Hot Water System Carked It
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2021-12-30 20:11I've got a 12y old gas storage system. Pilot light went out and the bottom of it is full of water so assuming the tank has corroded.
Worst time of year for this to happen but can anyone recommend a plumber who can sort me out with a new one sometime in the next week?
Cheers JF

Beehives in the boat - need advice!
Submitted by beeroclock on Thu, 2021-12-30 15:21Just before last summer I started keeping my boat on a property at the back of Margininup. I had not used the boat for about a month after dropping it off there. When i went to use it I found bees had made a hive in the storage compartment under the bunk in the cabin. It was a friggin nightmare trying to spray them, remove their nest and clean all the hundreds of dead bees that were stuck in old honey etc it was a fukn mess. Cleaned it sprayed it all with baygon surface spray, disinfectant and thought that would stop them from coming again.. Anyway.........I didnt use my boat during the 2 month ban and went to use it on monday. Now 2 HUGE hives and thousands of bees buzzing in cabin faark!. My mates a hobby beekeeper so he suited up, sprayed flyspray removed both hives , couldnt find the queens and now ive got a huge mess of dead bees stuck in honey everywhere. Gonna go out there and clean it this weekend. What spray / chemical can i put in there to stop them from coming back and making more hives ?

Big bull on the bank
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Wed, 2021-12-29 19:36 A young bloke fishing out on the bank had one hook up and got busted off . An hour later hooked up again. This time he held on and the fight took him up and down the beach for over an hour ..end result was a big bull I estimate around 200 kg (after helping move it )removed the hook along with someone else's big shark hook and a few pics then released back to the water with a bit of a struggle by 2 of us and it swam off. Great results for the young bloke who has been trying for 2 years to land one.

Out from rocko boxing day
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2021-12-26 18:48 As I came home for Xmas we decided to head out from Rocko to hit the deeper water trying out our new simrad sounder with the 1kw tranny . Very impressed so far , even reading ground sitting on 30 knots . As we hadn't fished out from. There for at least 10 years and had lost all our spots we were flying blind. Headed out to the 90s . We found the fish , well some anyway. Nothing huge but they are tasty . Sandy got the legal size pinky after 3 under size ones. 3 of us out and we all bagged out .

Merry Christmas
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2021-12-24 07:57Wishing all members and onlookers a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.
May it be a bloody sight better than the one we are about to end, but when you sit back and take a look at the whole picture of Australia , we here in WA haven't done too badly compared to the other states.

2 MM Stainless Steel TIG rods
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Wed, 2021-12-22 14:47Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get 2mm 316 stainless steel tig rods ? Just after a small amount around a dozen or so. Plenty of places in Perth have other sizes but 2 mm seems to be difficult to find.
No time for postage as I need for a job.

Is there anyone in perth who rebuilds these r151f gearboxes with upgrades. There is a number of builders on the east coast but cant find any in wa. Also 360 gerboxes over east do some fully upgraded versions of this box and trany case but there prices are covid crazy. Anyone had a box by them ? and if so do you think they are value. Cheers.

One for the electrical gurus
Submitted by sea-kem on Wed, 2021-12-08 17:58Ok driving up the coast last night my spotties gave up the ghost halfway on the trip, wasn't happy as it's a roo infested road at times and like all the light I can get.
Anyway took a look under the hood today and found the fuse for them, it was basically melted but not blown. I pulled it out had a good look and plugged it back in, the spotties worked again but I could feel the plastic fuse body getting hot so have pulled it out until a remedy.
It's strange as I've run these spotties heaps of times and for more than 2 hour stints along Gnarloo track.
It's 40 amp and the wiring looks heavy enough but I'm no expert.
It's running two Narva LED spotties and a light light bar.
Will more than likely get an auto sparky to look at it but keen for some thoughts on here.
Cheers

Mixed bag
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2021-12-05 16:02 Great days fishing out on the spoil bank today . Got a real mixed bag along with a small shovel and a 100cm Queenie. Unfortunately the 2 Queenies I got both swallowed a whole gardie and were bleeding quite bad but they won't go to waste. The 2small sharks were taken after harassing my live bait net . 1 took a bait that I dropped right in front of it , the other was too interested in my bait net so I just walked up behind it and just grabbed it with both hands . It wasn't happy at all. Couldn't believe I managed to get it bare hands

Another monster Queenie
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Wed, 2021-12-01 14:05 Tides were all wrong with only 2 mtrs between high and low . By the time I got to the bank the tide had already been on its way out for over 2 hours but with the temp over 40 I thaught the beach was better than sitting at home.

Having a whinge
Submitted by davewillo on Mon, 2021-11-29 12:06Took my boat out Saturday fresh from a service and antifoul. Running as sweet as can be and suddenly the engine sound changes and bilge pump and overheat alarms come on. Visual inspection showed nothing other than a bit of water in the bilge.
Drifting a few hundred metres north-west of Hillarys. Left it for some time but still too hot to run so I called a mate who came out and tied me up and took me back in. Haven't heard from the mechanic yet today but one of the raw water hoses under the engine is split from end to end. Hopefully that's all it is and he can replace it without taking the engine out. It's a bastard to get to.
Whinge over.
