Is anyone here in Cervantes?
Submitted by Swompa on Wed, 2019-04-10 21:35Heading up with the family on Saturday for a couple of nights, towing a caravan. A mate is heading up on Sunday and was planning to bring my boat though he isn't getting there until the afternoon and the forecast is simply rubbish on Monday and Tuesday.
Long shot I know, is anyone in Cervantes with a boat this weekend? i am keen for a fish on Sunday and will happily pay my way.
Better yet, does anyone have a tinny that they wouldn't mind loaning out? 30 years experience playing on boats from 3m to 19m...
Just keen to get off the beach.
Cheers
this cant be true
Submitted by petermac on Wed, 2019-04-10 15:31i read in the paper that RAAF pilots on operations in the middle east have been told to think about the gender of the those they are about to drop a bomb on , if i was a RAAF pilot about to drop a bomb i would be more worried about geting out of the target area with out geting a rocket up my arse , who ever thought that 1 up realy realy should not be in the ADF

Trailer parts - NOR
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Mon, 2019-04-08 09:25Does anyone have any experience with or know where I can get 2nd hand trailer parts NOR ?. Looking at making a bolt on wheel carrier for my trailer to do beach launching. Also looking at a draw bar extension of some sorts, nothing complicated and will be very simple as it's not going to be used that often.
I know I can buy brand new, but I enjoy making up my own gear from excess I have lying around in the shed.
All I really need is a trailer axle to cut up that has hub, bearings and seals, only need one side unless I make two. My spare wheel is one of those multi fitting types that can accommodate must hubs, so what type of axle should not pose too much of a problem.
Cheers
Round 4
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2019-04-07 20:59Soooo can the winless Dees who were red hot until last year's prelim get over a luke warm Swans
Can the Hawks make their only threepeat of the year, you would have to think so after the insipid display from the Sainters
Collywobbles to steady the ship..........maybe.
Geelong are on heat
For some reason Brissy are paying more than the Bombers, Bookies balls up there methinks. They are on a run and will get over the Bombers easily
I think, but who know with all the bloody upsets.
Richmond are proving to be everybody's bitches this year and I reckon Port will roll em
Adelaide to bounce back over North
Well well who would'a thunk Gold Coast to be odds on favourites for a game, any game.
Annnnnnnd he he he what was supposed to be shaping up as a blockbuster looks like it'll be a Saturday morning clinic with Auskickers. I spose it's all part of the rebuild eh Rolf :P If Mighty West Coast don't roast these plebs for % I'll be disappointed.

Help with type of steel for trailer repair
Submitted by Paul N on Sun, 2019-04-07 17:57Have to replace a lot of beams on my tandem boat trailer due to rust . I can do the welding but not sure about using painted or galvanised RHS . Replacing sections with what is on there at the moment 75x50x4mm . If I use galvanised steel will it hold up to dunking in salt water . If I use painted steel what can I coat it with or is it a waste of time . I assume I should use painted if I were to get it hot dipped galvanised after welding it all up . If I go down the hot dip path does anyone know the cost of galvansing . Steel section would way 100 kilo and effectively would be 10 mtrs of the mentioned RHS .
Thanks for any help
Cheers Paul

Mooring/Anchoring Warroora 7.8m Jackman
Submitted by Ryno Macca on Sun, 2019-04-07 00:06G’day
We have recently changed our boat to a 7.8m Jackman Hard Top and are planning on a few trips north. One we have planned is Warroora where I’m thinking of launching at Coral Bay and motoring south to Sandy Point where I’ll have to leave her in the water unmanned overnight for the week.
Has/does anyone daisy chain picks together? I’ve done it at Sandy the lastime we were there with our 4.5m as she was pitching hard in the short chop in strong winds which really yanked on the pick even with plenty or very heavy chain and it worked well. I’ve seen a few comments on Fishwrecked about putting 2 anchors in a V or just using one big one.
Our pick is a bit light in my opinion and has about 30-50m of 6mm chain (+rope) which I think also is a bit light for the vessel. Keen to see what others have done in similar vessels. For starters I’m thinking about a sarca#4 up front. She’s got a capstan winch on her too.
Thanks in advanced for any feedback.

Round 3
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Wed, 2019-04-03 15:40The grand final rematch is upon us with the Pies all fired up after beating Richmond’s VFL side and travelling the grand sum of 0.00km over the three rounds. West Coast will welcome back Clubber Gaff into the engine room for his run at the 2019 Brownlow and Kennedy will be a lot better for his run last week. Call me crazy but I’ve tipped West Coast and I’m also tipping Boon to disappear for 7 days if the Hawks blow another lead this weekend.

A$$hole sellers on Gumtree
Submitted by bradz on Tue, 2019-04-02 09:18Just a winge.
Over the weekend someone on gumtree was selling a Simrad S2009 and HDS5 for $300. Bloody cheap. Anyway. I called him and we agreed on a price and agreed for me to pick it up the following morning. I offered to pay the deposit via eft to which the reply was "nah mate...I trust you. I run my own business. Im trustworthy. I wont sell it from under you". Anyway, long story short, the slime bag wouldnt take my calls the next morning and my messages keep going to his message bank which clearly says his business name.
Way to promote your business you flog. I wont name and shame him but this is not the first time its happened to me. Dont get me wrong, if the guy realises he is selling too cheap then he should just man up and take the call and explain it.
So, if you happened to be the seller and you are on FW, stop being a turd. If however you managed to pick up a bargain over the weekend, well done.
Winge over.

Bloody hurts - anyone else experienced this
Submitted by clayd on Sat, 2019-03-30 20:39Anyone got any advice. Stepped on a stingray around 3pm today. 15mm Puncture wound on the top of my foot that bled for about 1hr non-stop. Wasn’t too painful then. But now my foot has swelled up and it’s throbbing pretty bad. Toes are all tingly. Have done the hot water, which does help, but can’t sleep with my foot in a bucket. To top it off, i’m On a camp with my son, so limited medical supplies and have to tough it out for him to stay. A few beers and Eagles winning helps. Somone offered to help get me smashed with Bundy, but i’d Prefer them to hit me over the head with the bottle than drink that stuff. Any advice of what to expect appreciated. Have put antiseptic on the wound.

Well that didn’t end well
Submitted by Doc on Tue, 2019-03-26 20:21Took a fall off the roof of my bus on Saturday, snapping my right humerus. They’ve had to fly me to Perth to get plates put in, so holed up at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Fly back to Victoria tomorrow.

AFL Rd 2
Submitted by timboon on Mon, 2019-03-25 18:03Well what a ripper round it was.
Tipsters were on edge.
The reigning premiers flew to Qld and copped the big banana fair in the pie hole.
FREO monstered one of the flag favourites and have all but booked a berth in the last game in September.
So moving on to this week, another Thursday game.
The blow torch will start to heat up on teams that start 0-2 so what rabbit will simmos circus pull out of the hat taking on the fired up but hugely under manned GWS with half of their side missing from last year.
Will the wooden Spooner Hawks clock up another win with the worst midfield in the comp....
Just so many questions....

Canal Rocks ramp
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2019-03-21 20:06Latest news on the Canal Rocks boat ramp is that it is going to remain open for all users.
Might not be the best of ramps but saves heaps of fuel if you have to launch round in Geo bay

Dirty fuel
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Wed, 2019-03-20 13:43Just put the tub in for a service before we go up north only to find the fuel system full of water and some kind of silty shit. Not happy at all. I always go to the same place for fuel and could only imagine how much crap that has gone through. Thankfully our insurance will cover it. Def wont be going back there for fuel again. My mechanic said its not the first time he found this prob at that site.
On a good note it will be fixed before we head to coral bay
Goes to show you gotta be so careful. I for 1 will be keeping a good eye on the filter from now on

landcruiser 200 catch can after 20,000km
Submitted by pelagicyachts on Mon, 2019-03-18 09:21Thought this might be of interest to other 200s owners
I bought a new 200s late last year - my last 200 didn't have a catch can on and I wasn't going to bother putting one on the new one but the dealer actually suggested it wouldn't be a bad idea - I bought a HPD catch can as I liked the idea of the dipstick (meaning you don't have to pull the whole unit it out to check if its got oil in it)
At 10,000 km there was nothing showing on the dipstick (although it does not go right to the bottom of the can), car is about to go in for its 20,000 service and this is what was in the can - more so, of interest there was a fair bit of sludge at the bottom that clearly had moisture in it - must be from short trips but good to see that non of that is going through the turbos

Cricket World Cup.
Submitted by Deckie on Fri, 2019-03-15 16:52Not fishing, sorry, but can anyone explain to me why Smith & Warner are taking their cricket gear to the UAE ???
I didnt know they had proven themselves playing at the top of their games yet.
Both have had a below average time in the middle lately.
To think that someone that is playing well & gelled into the team will miss out because Aussie cricket is a "Boys Club".
I thought Justin Langer was better than that.
IOM they both should have been stripped of their Baggy Greens.......
