Harley catchalater Bennell
Submitted by timboon on Tue, 2018-01-09 06:09Surely Freo will make what should be an easy decision and cut him free...
With the new crop of up and comers one would think its a no brainer to get rid of this problem child....
Unfortunately for you Harley whether this time you were in the right or not you put yourself in the situation and it could now cost you....
Rumours have always been its no calf problem its been ice addiction which it seems the club has done their best to help him through but if i was there i'd be letting the boy go as he obviously isn;t interested in helping himself anyway...
Bring on 2018 AFL!!

Rotto squid and Cuttlefish
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Mon, 2018-01-08 15:06 Had a great trip to Rotto over the New Year with the family. Lucky enough to stay out on a nice Riv at Rocky Bay for the week. Plenty of herring and skippy around of the back of the boat and also got onto some nice squid with the added bonus of a good sized cuttlefish. Weather was very mild and the wind certainly made its presence felt. No complaints though. Everyone doing well on the crays, snapper and a few Dhu fish as well. It is fair to say we did not starve
Looking forward to the next trip, great place to be.
Cheers
Dave

Im back, after a Prostate health scare
Submitted by crasny1 on Mon, 2018-01-08 07:40Been missing for a while, recovering after a "what men don't want" operation.
All went well so far but boys, but get that PSA test when you are over 40 and any rise get a specialist to review.
Early detection is the key and then you CAN get cured, not just treated.
Looking forward to a BETTER 2018.

Ceiling fixers - Best way to patch holes from bayonet fittings
Submitted by sstevee on Sun, 2018-01-07 11:11Hi guys
Hoping the resident ceiling fixers may be able to give some advice on the best way to patch the small holes left by bayonet fittings after having downlights installed. Mainly do I need to bother with tape etc? or just fill the holes and sand smooth? Also, any reccomendations on which brand products to go with? Hoping to just do it once and do it properly.
Cheers

Seen some crazy stuff
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sat, 2018-01-06 20:12i have seen some crazy stuff over the time while driving trucks but the other day i was a bit surprised seeing a reasonable boat with some high end fishing rods and reels sitting in the rod holders on top of the bimini. could just see them getting caught up on trees. turning up to their destination with rods missing or all the line missing off the reels after hooking onto branches.
Anyone else seen similar or other crazy stuff

Went out for a snapper bash
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Thu, 2018-01-04 22:49Went out for a snapper bash tonight. Left the marina at about 4 . Headed out to an area we were told thats got some snapper hanging around in the evening. Set anchor and got the burley flowing. Had the lines set by about 5 . Meanwhile we were getting into the whiting for a feed. After about an hour 1 line took off and went straight out and didnt look like stopping . Called it for a shark. Just on dusk we had 2 lines go off together this time playing dirty and going real hard . Ended with both busting off. Not fair. About 10 minuites later another line went nuts and playing real dirty going around the boat and tangled in the anchor rope and another bust off. They were all hooters and just didnt want to stop.
Ended with 4 bust offs and a feed of whiting and a few hours on the water. Will be back out again for sure.

Trailer Tyre 185R13C
Submitted by bsir on Tue, 2018-01-02 11:36I blew a tyre on the weekend on the trailer.
As it turns out, they appear to be quite rare.
They are 185R13C (a light truck tyre).
I was hoping to get a new tyre, plus a new rim and tyre....or look at changing them to a different size.
My questions are:
1. Im looking at changingtyre size to a 185R14. Given this means changign rims, its not a cheap exercise. Has anyone been down this route?
2. What tyre size does everyone else use?
3. Any idea where to get new/replacement/second hand rims that are reaosnably priced?
4. I have been recommended to buy galvanised rims (I currently have alloy). Anyoen had any issues with the galvanised rims?
5. Any advise?
Thanks
Blari

Big whiting
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2017-12-31 13:34 Put the boat in the drink this morning thinking it might be ok . But like the weather forcasters i was wrong. Made our way out a bit but got nothing but wrasse. Ended coming in a bit just inside one of the reefs. Trumpeter and bread and butter fish everywhere along with small flatties but amongst them was a few whiting . Not much but got dinner anyway. As they say a bad days fishing beats a good days work.

Fender/ Buoy inflator options.
Submitted by abrohlosorbust on Wed, 2017-12-27 21:10Hey Guys
Got a couple of the large orange teardrop Buoys that are needing a little bit of air and just wondering if there is a particular type of needle / fitting to make it work.
One had a screw out plug that took a normal ball needle and was easy but the others have what appears to be a little valve with a ball or bike tyre valve end that when depressed lets air out but cant seem to get it to take air in...
Does anyone have the right adaptor to fit or know where I can get my hands on one..
Cheers guys.

What’s your lotto boat?
Submitted by Dale on Sun, 2017-12-24 21:11I know most people would think about it, but say you win lotto division one, what boat would you get? For me it would take a bit of time, but a Caribbean 27 Runabout would go close to being bought.

Maiden voyage to the big blue
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2017-12-24 17:56
The day had finally come to hit the big blue with dominator 1.didnt have a clue where to go but with a bit or research on the tablet the or should i say my decision was made to head out there to that spot but realising it was a bit to far to go today i went to plan b . The weather wasnt overly flash going out but managable. Got out to the planned spot and set up the drift according to the wind but with the current going the oposite way it made an interesting drif to say the least. The lines all went down with pickers having a go and with my reel playing up i went to the backup running 2 by 2/0 hooks . First fish on board was a nice foxy by me . Second one another foxy by me and that was the end of my roll with keepers. Bro inlaw nailed a foxy to open the account. Then my sis in law hooked up nicely and with a bit of effort landed a 5 kg dhuie. Moments later my line took off but only lasted a few minuits with the hook being bitten off. Sis inlaw nailed a nice bbum. Apart from a bit of bait comming on board and a small pinkie that went back over the next 1/2 hour the call was made 1 more drift and then in. Within a few minuits of the drift Sandys line started to scream and so did she lol. A good 10 minuits later a nice dhuie popped up with smiles all round . That gave us 6 of our cat one. On closer inspection of this monster that came in at 13.2 kg there was my 2/0 hook stuck in its bottom gum. Go figure. On the way in we managed a couple of tuna to top of a good day out. Certainly cant complain about the day.

Time between Woodman Point and Mandurah
Submitted by Grey Ghost on Sat, 2017-12-23 22:33I was wondering whether someone can give an estimated time to drive my boat, on the water, between Woodman Point and Mandurah Canals (for the lights).
22 foot Ali and planning on going mid afternoon on the 25th. Are there many cray pots on way, apart from ones behind Garden Island?
I was thinking it may be quicker than towing the boat from Cockburn Power Boat Assoc. and also I don't feel like dealing with dweebs at the Mamdurah boat ramps.
Thanks for help.

Rotto Swim - Whats a fair cost contribution?
Submitted by Darren253 on Fri, 2017-12-22 11:26What a fair cost to ask for as a support vessel for the Rotto swim?
I reckon I will use 80ltrs of fuel maximum on the Merc 150 4 Stroke. Launch fees, info night, drinks/ice/12hr day. I was thinking $350... That will more than cover fuel, a feed on the island & a belly full of beer at the pub afterwards. My brother and his wife will be over from the UK so we are only considering a duo or solo and will probably party on and crash on the boat!

Weather
Submitted by donlovesfishing on Thu, 2017-12-21 22:05HI fellow fishos, I was wondering if I could get some advise when fishing in Geographe bay or out of grace town. Is it better to go out on an easterly or south wester with 10 knots and under? Just curious because Until I get to the boat ramp I never really know what conditions would be best to go out on. Any advise would be most great full. I have a 5m runnerabout. Thanks in advance Don
